Probably sounds like a weird thing to be looking forward to, but I cannot wait until the day that those restrooms next to ET get repainted. They are so ugly and scream tacky late 80's, early 90's aesthetic.

Well, good news then... they were recently repainted to make them brighter! Congratulations!

Kidding aside, hoping they just use the same colors as the retro USF stage colors the main building still uses.

You guys think this pizza place, ET and Animal Actors will be added to hollywood? i think it makes sense

Animal actors seems like already hollywoodish, i assume the kidszone pizza company will be changed/renamed and idk how they’d be able to make et but it feels possible! idk

Or just leave that as KidZone Courtyard.

Remember this area and Hollywood are separated by Central Park. It’s not contiguous.

I mean that isn't really true though. It is contiguous. Central Park is to the north and separated by the walkway itself. Even the original USF map shows this...

Note the orange section labelled Hollywood extends to the very edge of the current Spongebob / Kidzone Pizza area when that section was still "Expo Center." Garden of Allah (Part of Hollywood) sits directly next to (and is practically touching) the Kidzone buildings. Central Park, Hollywood, and Expo Center always crashed together there and it makes perfect sense for this area to just be absorbed into Hollywood.

If they seriously leave Kidzone Pizza Company, those hideous restrooms and ET in a weird nebulous nowhere zone that is pretty ridiculous. Aren't we supposed to be prepping USF to look great in time for the opening of Epic? Leaving the hodgepodge Kidzone theming and naming there doesn't make a lick of sense.

ET maybe becomes part of Hollywood. The whole thing no, because in the grand scheme it would just get taken away from Hollywood. Some day Animal Actors will close and that plot of land could be used for a Dreamworks expansion (a dark ride or something) or be a part of whatever happens when the Simpsons leaves.

Plus the theming in that area is nothing like Hollywood and they aren't going to throw a bunch of money at it to make it look like it fits when their plan long term is for it to have nothing to do with Hollywood. It's way easier for them to paint over some cringy theming to something that is neutral, spending a smaller amount of money, rename KZ Pizza, and re-route ET queue (potentially) so that it actually IS a Hollywood ride.

Not really hard to "absorb" it into Hollywood - all they really need to do is repaint the restroom/Kidzone Pizza to the same color as ET's soundstage and call it a day. All the new concrete work got rid of the stars on the floor, so the only thing keeping it "Kidzone" is the flag poles in front of Animal Actors and Pizza Company, and a restaurant that only opens for 3 days during normal park ops a year shouldn't be holding them back. Nobody will bat an eye with SpongeBob's exterior remaining as is.

I don't see how it hurts to just do the work now, and absorb everything into Hollywood, even if it's not a 1:1 fit in theming/aesthetics.

Again though, I can see them doing it for ET possibly, but for the rest of the area, long term, I think there's probably different plans. Like I said, in a theoretical where Animal actors gets eaten up and becomes a dark ride or something for the land, they could then make the ENTIRE area dreamworks. The only thing that would need to be changed is the ET queue to enter from Hollywood.

Absorbing it into ALL OF IT into Hollywood just seems wholly unnecessary and I don't see Universal doing it.

I don't doubt the rest of the area is marked for future enhancements, but I doubt Universal as much as I want them to do, will reroute ET all the way through Hollywood rather than off to the side of DreamWorks. Also, paint for Universal costs pennies - I don't expect them to build additional Hollywood-themed facades.

They don't need to do anything major in the Animal Actors area, just "move" it under the Hollywood name in park maps.

I also think a dark ride is bound to happen in the back area by the older parade building first before they touch animal actors.

Far fetched but possible.. just consider it to be World Expo? They still have the Expo Eats food stand in that area from before Springfield.

Seems like between this and Rockit/Minion Land, the park isn’t thinking far ahead about their thematic lands

I’m hoping this means more is in store and the Universal we have known for the past 10 years isn’t laying off the gas.

The alternative is that the company and creative have shifted their mission and quality control. I’m not ready to believe that. I’ll give them until their first project after Epic to make a judgment call.

Now, are they still the company who calls an audible at the very last minute? Yes. :lmao:

I'm really curious to see how they're gonna fit ET into this land. Most likely just leave it there, but it'll be interesting to see any alterations. I don't really see it being any part of the marketing, though.

"Heya kids! We've got Shrek, Trolls, Kung-Fu Panda, and ET! You kids know who ET is, right? Please say yes. Please."

I mean, to be fair since there’s walls around the kidszone pizza company, they could rename it to the hollywood pizza company or something of that nature seemingly easily no? And animal actors sounds like a hollywood attraction.
Or rename the pizza place “Animal Actors Pizza Company”. A great tagline could be: “Where there’s a little bit of animal actor in every slice.”

If I remember this area/space correctly. They’d need to get the rights, but a refurb to a Krusty Krab quick service is a LAYUP idea to takeover pizza company and SpongeBob Storepants.
I like this idea, issue is that The Krusty Krab, being essentially the most popular restaurant in fiction, would necessitate a quasi-casual table delivery style restaurant like Minion Cafe to effectively manage demand and justify a decently-sized menu/reference gallery.

Interesting thing about that, the walls do not block the ordering area or seating for Kidzone Pizza or the main entrance to SpongeBob.
