I think Ghostbusters would be much better-served by a dark ride or special effects showcase show than a high-thrill coaster with a height requirement.

But if the only choice was either a F&F coaster or a GB coaster, I'd obviously take GB. Because I have infinitely more fondness for it as a property.

I am of the mindset that after Fast 11 the IP needs to die and stay dead.

But considering how outdoor coaster are barely themed, F&F is a fine thing to theme it too. Let Ghostbusters have a dark ride that can do the IP justice.

where would a gb ride go? this area is available already. the rip ride will be replaced. the area is ready to be replaced.

how and where could a gb ride be?

I don't think GB is getting a ride at USF anytime soon. What I meant was that the GB IP works better as a dark ride so you can really take in the atmosphere.

I think most people expect whatever is built here to be F&F for two reasons;

1. There is already a major F&F coaster being built on the opposite coast. It's not an especially far leap to say it could eventually make it here too.

2. F&F is an internal IP that the leadership and people in charge at NBCUniversal/Comcast seem to really gravitate to and have consistently tried to capitalize on.

I don't think there are very many people here that want it to be a F&F coaster specifically, but the guys in charge seem to really, really like the IP for whatever reason. I'd be surprised if it wasn't F&F honestly.

Also, the Fast & Furious franchise has made well over a billion dollars, so it's no surprise Universal is capitalizing on one of its most successful properties.

The IP is also perfect for attractions like fast coasters, and I expect Hollywood Drift to get a much better reception with the general public than the slow-moving "bus ride."

I think it depends on where load/unload/queue will be. Do we really think they'll keep the existing load and queue area? I think they'll move it.

Agree, they move it. And I think it makes the most sense in NY.

Should we expect this coaster to just take up the current land HRRR covers? Seems tight compared to Hollywood. I know, they have a literal mountain to work with but I am curious how this layout eventually works.

They’ve got space to expand. That entire area in front of Blue Man Group is just begging for better use.

i kinda wish they kept the speakers for the music and just have music from the movies or something playing.
I understand the coaster might be completely different and not be like rockit, I get that it's going to be something new, but it would be cool if the new one still had music (or things from the movies like car sounds or voiceovers, vin diesel talking to you or something)

+ the area where HHN typically queues up between the soundstages and Hogwarts Express.

I think the best-case scenario would be an entrance/queue where the the Rockit "Trebleclef" maneuver/helix is with a launch out to the empty parking lot by the soundstages.
This is pure speculation on how they can use the available area to them. 1733497899701.png
This idea provides more space for Despicable Me to receive a better queue by replacing the current Rockit location. It has horrible capacity and an ugly queue. Would provide them the ability to spruce it up a bit.

Note: This doesn't consider the special events building as a potential area for use. You could theoretically build a new media/special effects complex where the Rockit helix near Hard Rock Cafe is (therefore easier to access without the need to have USF open) and then use it for coaster space.

I'm not a fan of the F&F IP, but it is the easiest IP to suit a launching drift coaster. A Ghostbusters attraction deserves special effects, not a branded coaster IMO.

Yup, my dream is it's GB themed and uses the old fire station entrance. Then you can use the old load/queue/lift/etc for additional support for Music Plaza Stage.

I'd love a Ghostbusters attraction, but I don't know if I want a bare bones coaster with an IP slap, even if the queue is super cool.

What if the queue and launch are cool?

I wasn’t really thinking about Ghostbusters as a coaster option… but…

A launch with the containment unit breaking open with a gravity building replacing SS33 (and the Sharp Aquos becoming the new event space… which it should be…), and suddenly…

And it could effectively act as Universal's response to Cosmic Rewind, using the Hollywood Drift ride system... I think y'all are cooking here.

That spot is nowhere close to large enough to a gravity building of that size. It would still need to use the current space. But, even just using it for a final show scene could be fun.

Oh no not the same size, I meant more literally this could be their Cosmic Rewind (albeit on a smaller scale). Although, that could also be argued as a positive, quality over quantity, am I right?

GB, if it were even in the cards, deserves a fully-realized, fully-fleshed-out attraction.

I’d say that about Jurassic World too, (especially seeing what they were able to do in Beijing,) but it’s not like VelociCoaster isn’t good.

Honestly, with the right color scheme for the ride track, ride cars, queue, and general sound design, I think a Ghostbusters-themed Velocicoaster equivalent for USF sounds potentially really cool.

Ghostbusters deserves a full dark ride, but with two shooter attractions already within USF, and another Ghost Busting-themed shooter being presumably prepped for Epic Universe expansion, I think I would be okay with concept, especially compared to a F&F coaster in the same plot.

The issue with a proper themed Jurrasic World attraction in Orlando is that it would be difficult to differentiate it from River Adventure. You could use a different ride system, but I feel that it would inevitably hit the same story beats.
