Big empty box easy and fast to build.

But also, the same permits that say only 1 story now also deleted 150,000 sq ft previously, so not sure early info on there can be trusted.

EDIT: As in, permit a big 1 story empty box structure, then add interior structure later under separate interior build out permit (once they’re done actually designing it).

Do they really need another Potter coaster though?

I agree with what you’re saying overall but I think Universal is not interested in another coaster for this park in particular. That’s just asking for more trouble if it’s a complicated build.

If it’s another Gringotts style then I’m okay with that.

Unless you know something I don’t know….???

If it’s a multi-track indoor single-rail powered coaster that glides like you’re flying on a broomstick through a dark interior designed to look like Wizarding Paris or whatever people probably won’t even think of it as a “coaster”.

For example.

My guess is the expansion will be either an omnimover or walk through attraction of some kind.

somewhat? it would obviously be more substantial then VCMB if that was the case. So my money is on a omnimover or other D ticket dark ride of sorts. I don't think that would want to have two E tickets in one land.

A coaster that has the station on the ground floor then launches into a gravity building could technically be one story.

When they run the correct number of trains yes. Above 1,400 an hour

Now that I'm thinking about Alicia's comment... Universal could potentially have this ready to go in 2028 to compete with the other major roller coaster "with unique show system" in Orlando (Monsters' Inc.)

Exactly, think ride sensation not ride system.

Doesn’t sound epic at all.

There's enough space to house an indoor coaster and a smaller attraction, something like the Bowser Jr Challenge but with the interactive wands.

I think a "Wand Challenge Trail" would be a fantastic B-ticket experience.

Indoor coaster/dark ride hybrids are fine. What is not, are pure coasters. Epic is already out of balance with them, just like USF is with simulators. All things in moderation is a good policy.

Interactivity with wands and spoken words? It could end up being overwhelmed. Although, how they could make a spoken word audible over everyone else is a good question. Sometimes, I would like to see a good vs evil where, if you choose the dark side, you have as good a chance at winning as the good side.

Heck, ET doesn't even use the right names at the end very often. Keep it simple.

A coaster does not attract any new guests to Epic they don't already have. Universal fans, who like coasters, are already a captured market.

The growth market for Universal/Epic is Disney guests not already going to Universal parks because they associate Universal parks as screen-heavy or coaster-heavy, and lacking family-friendly thematic, vibe-filled attractions (Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Fantasyland, etc., etc....). With a few more of these per park, Universal has the opportunity to drain off some of the guests from Disney resort. These tourists who already like theme parks -- generally -- and go to Orlando are such easier guests to attract than someone in their living room in Kansas who doesn't already participate.

No.

Universal has a market and they're good at it. They have a house style and they're good at it. I don't want Universal to make Disney rides, I want Disney to make them.

Multiple things:

1) Coaster or not, Potter (unfortunately) draws guests regardless.
2) Epic has a capacity issue right now more than any problem with drawing in new guests. A coaster with good capacity would be fantastic right now.

I also think it depends on what kind of coaster it is. Gringotts is a [not very good] roller coaster that absolutely appeals to people who aren't interested in Hulk or Velocicoaster. I think something on the (thrill) level of Cosmic Rewind, Big Thunder or Space Mountain would strengthen Universal's appeal with the Families With Kids demographic. They're clearly not going after families with kids under 40 inches and, frankly, I don't blame 'em.

What is Universal's house style? Moving you in front of a screen and using the same beats on each ride (water squirt, fake fall, etc.)? The tiring something goes wrong storyline?

Why want more of the same when Universal can provide a variety of options?

E.T. Adventure is popular... and I'd call that more of Disney's style. Why can't we expect all types of rides at parks? People love scenic-based dark rides.

Are they? They shouldn't expect to overtake Disney as king, but at the very least try to offer more experiences? Epic Universe is quite well-rounded. And families with children bring a lot of revenue.
