I'm guessing they all (at least all worth saving) get sold off to other parks. Some of them may still have some life left to give.

Aren't the sections glued together or do they have gaskets? If glued they are headed to the fiberglass landfill with the steel being recycled.

It might be a good opportunity for Fun Spot to add a waterpark with limited transportation costs.

I remember when The Black Hole opened at W&W. Loved that slide.

Well a water park was in the plans for expansion right?

I know that other parks have relocated slides before, so I'm assuming there's some way to break the seal between sections.

Yes! :) We went on June 19th. Even though it was a Sunday (and Father's Day, at that), the park wasn't very busy. They were putting them on everyone's wrists as soon as you went through the turnstiles.

When you went to go on a ride, you tapped your wristband to the kiosk. It would give you a return time. For most of the rides, the return time was only about a few minutes after the current time. At most, it might have been 10 minutes later?

Things seemed to run smoothly. I wanted to go back and test it again when the park was really busy, but we didn't get a chance to.

DBF and I were talking, and we seem to think it will work better at VB, where there will be a hub-and-spoke pattern in the park. That way you have things to keep you busy while waiting for your return time, and you're not all the way at a dead end, making it a little inconvenient to trek back to the middle of the park.

Sounds like a good system given that the park wasn't designed for it.

That brings the number of open days left for WnW down to less than 60.

I take it as a sign that they think Volcano Bay will be open for Spring Break in some capacity.q

Wet 'n Wild has been scheduled to close on NYE since the beginning of the year though. All they are doing here is saving some money on the less busy days of the week where the crowds are so low that they may be finding it not worth being open.

I just realized we are two months away from the closure of WnW yet we haven't really heard anything about what will go in that space. Is UO planning on letting it sit for a while while they decide what to do or are plans already more or less set? Last I remember it was rumored to get a resort or two with possibly another CityWalk.

They don't really announce anything in advance. They usually are well into construction on a project before they tell the public anything.

True, but by the time construction has started inside sources have let us know what is being built. Permits alone usually give away the project.

The first permits we will see for W&W will be for demolition.

Supposedly everything is in flux right now as Universal Execs discuss what overall approaches to take. The land purchase & Dreamworks has caused an overall re evaluation of everything that was on the table previously, according to insiders.

What a wonderful problem for Universal to have. Plenty of land to build on, plenty of IPs to choose from and the financial backing to do whatever they want. How times have changed.

No doubt. Although I think there is quite a bit of potential to find out where and what to pull back as well. 5 year, 10 year plans and all that.
