I got to ride this last week, and I agree that its the best I've ever seen it. Unfortunately what I witnessed at DAK was that other than Pandora and to a lesser extent Kali and Everest, everything was an almost walk-on when we went there in the afternoon/evening. I think they are trying to add/redevelop another area to keep people there longer. Honestly, we arrived there at 3PM and did almost all the attractions before the second ROL show..... and that is another mess I'll talk about in the appropriate threat.

For this reason alone they should be expanding not replacing. It's not like they don't have the room nor the money.

Okay. Lets say Indy doesn't replace Dinosaur and the surrounding land. Then what? There's really nothing you could do to that land to make it better

Level Chester and Hesters and replace it with a Fantasyland style dark ride with cartoony dinosaurs. Chester and Hester's Wild Ride. The Dino-Rama concept is decent. It's the carnival style rides people don't appreciate.

And Dinosaur is a good ride. Maybe a new better looking entrance plaza, but the ride, especially with the recent update, is pretty solid.

Dino-Rama just doesn't fit in Animal Kingdom in my opinion. It has the worst theming of any of the WDW parks.

If I had a choice, I would keep Dinosaur as it is, level Chester's and Dino- Rama, and make that into it's own separate land, separated from Dinosaur. I would then put a new version of Beastly Kingdom there

Edit: Don't judge me lol

A South America or Australia animal path would go nicely there. The two the park has in Asia and Africa are my favorite things to do there.

Getting ride of Chester and Hester's seems like the obvious answer.

People from nearly every culture and background are fascinated with dinosaurs. I think it would be a big mistake to get rid of the dino land/theme. Why can't they retheme parts to The Good Dinosaur? I love AK but it can be kind of serious. Dinoland is playful and a good break from the hyper realism.

It also wasn't as much of a hit on the reception critically and publicly.

Indiana Jones, is a proven IP that has had multiple outings with a large fanbase. It can also be more easily connected to an overarching land if they need too.

You know Disney owns Indiana Jones. Simple solution, make a new Indiana Jones movie with dinosaurs.

If Indy takes over Dinosaur! the closest thing to a dinosaur you will find in the land is an Amazon Crocodile. No Indy meets prehistoric animals.

I assume that it would be a South American land featuring Jaguar, Capybara, Amazon Crocodiles, Pythons, and Piranha. Oh, and an Indy ride that has nothing to do with animals. Also a more ambitious E Ticket than the Indy retread.

We can get a lot of bang for the buck by cloning Indy into DAK. Not only is the R&D already done, but they already built the ride system too. So, since they basically already have the Indy ride built, they can go big for a second ride in the land. The Amazon River/Lost City of Gold boat ride.

Anyone else find it odd that in a park dedicated to Animals, all the lands are geographical and not "habitual". There is a lot more sociological influence in the parks organizational structure than order and phylum. The animals aren't grouped as, say, "nocturnal", "reptiles", "insects" as in most zoos. DAK has always been "New World Showcase: Now With Animals!"

I always assumed the design of the park had more to do with where Joe Rohde wanted to vacation than anything else.

If it is anything like Lost River Delta at DisneySea, it could be amazing.

Which is why I'm not sure about this rumor - Dinosaur is his ride.

The rumor is very suspect to me in many respects, but Dinoland will be seeing major changes within the next 5 years according to Martin so there's that.

I have a feeling they want to have something to promote at DAK for the 50th and this would be a fairly simple project. The larger Dinoland -> South America project would be more complicated.

I'm all for major changes to Dinoland... provided they're in-theme with the mission statement of the park and still keep dinosaurs as the focus. I'll have a hard time swallowing anything else.
