The counter to this is that Universal's hotel doesn't have enough rooms to replace all the rooms on I-Drive. So the concept of this drives out other hotels may happen to those already on the brink, while it allows other hotels that are operational to fluctuate their rates to be just under Universals.

I honestly can't see a major theme park's hotel charge $73 for long. It's not sustainable. It would become a money pit. That's not sustainable today for shareholders. Shareholders couldn't care less about the 4th park 5 years from now. If an asset is draining profit, it will be rectified.

That's only the bottom rate for Value season with Save More stay More 7 night stay, best rate scenario. . There's not too many Value weeks in Universal's hotel calendar. Regular Season & Peak Season, especially if it's only a couple night stay, will probably show rates fairly, if not considerably, higher.

The nightly rate for this room is insanely low the more I look at it. I've been looking at hotels for my trip in September and CBBR is working out at £1200 and for a comparison to I-Drive, Rosen Inn International is working out about £900. This hotel will work out at £760.

This is working out slightly cheaper than staying across the road at Monumental Movieland and the difference in the rooms is night and day.

Would you rather stay here:

Or here and save a little money plus get all the benefits of staying on site.

Comparing this to hotel to CBBR, you have easy access to I Drive and all their wonderfuly cheap and tacky shops and restaurants and I would bet taking a bus to the parks would take roughly the same amount of time.

I love the design of these rooms! The interior is so crisp and clean and makes me think of a great time at the beach. I love it! Price isn't too bad either. I wonder if going from Cabana Bay to here will feel like a serious downgrade? It's just cheap! What's the catch?

Right now it sounds heavenly to this Pittsburgher who feels like it's been winter for the last 6 months! Native Floridians might be less enchanted, but I have a feeling a lot of east coast northerners will be a fan.

This is one of the reasons it's hard for me to accept the "it's not on property so its discounted" approach. The accessibility and access to main UOR is no time at all. Heck, its less than a mile away. Disney's All-Stars (I chose those since they are "value resorts") is up to 5 miles away from Magic Kingdom (chose that since its the top park). The on-site experience should be the same as an on-site hotel with characters and service, so it's truly a wonder of how long they stick to that price structure.

It's off site. That's it. This is a gateway hotel to get you hooked. It worked for me with CBBR and this will catch many more.

Universal being so tight together has always been massive headache for them but being close to the parks, is great for the guest.

The cheaper hotels at the current resort have the huge benefit of now having Volcano Bay next door which this won't have but at the current resort, you're trapped. Here, you can walk across the road to Walgreens or IHOP plus have easy access to the I Ride Trolley for even easier access to SeaWorld and the outlets.

This hotel is going to be such a huge hit for us tight Brits and even adding on an extra $10 a night, it will still be a bargain. I'm with you that this price can't last.

I'm guessing the hotel amenities won't be nearly as nice, or sophisticated. Don't expect a pool like a Cabana Bay that's for sure.

It sounds like a limited time event, not a resort complex. At least the hotel names are good: Surfside and Dockside, very WDW-esque.

But cmon Uni, haven’t you learned from Escape?

I'm terrible at reading the maps that are posted on here and I'm not from Florida so I'm not familiar with the road names. So my question is.....how close will these new hotels be to the 4th park once it opens? Will these new hotels be closer to the 4th park than the current hotels?

Yeah, it'll be on the W&W site, which is a lot closer to the fourth park than the other hotels.

Here's the fine print on the promotional prices listed in the Press Releases:

*Minimum of seven (7) night stay required. Promotional discount is based on savings from Value 1 rates at Universal's Endless Summer Resort – Surfside Inn and Suites. Promotional rate is valid for stays in a standard view room double occupancy or standard view 2 Bedroom Suite for travel between 9/02/19 - 9/26/19 and 12/01/19 – 12/19/19.

Rates and discounts vary by length of stay, room type, travel dates, season and are subject to availability. Rates are higher on Friday/Saturday and holidays. Rates are per night plus tax and the number of rooms available at these rates is limited.

This is incredibly crude (Somehow I've made the new resort look like Texas?) but this is the rough idea of where everything is. This new hotel is the blue area in the middle.

crude map.jpg

I had hoped this would have free parking but with Disney now charging resort parking, it's a sure thing.

Are we to assume that the shuttles will drop off at the same area CB shuttles drop off at? That entire space is getting rather crowded. I wonder if Uni is looking to add another area.

Woah, I was at the casino last night right nearby. I saw the folks at that game and did not envy them! I heard they were giving tickets away for a buck. It looked absolutely frigid! I had no idea you were also a Pittsburgher. Lots of us on this board.. My phone just alerted me we are going to have freezing rain at midnight! It looks like... NEXT Friday things might finally start to warm up... I hope :(

I don't get the "Endless Summer Resort" hate. It's no different than Port Orleans Reosrt - Riverside/French Quarter

It all sounds good. But unless the price can overcome the unlimited express and proximity benefit of the top three I will continue to stay there. Royal Pacific specifically. Spoiled I guess.
