Stranger Things during the day just didn't work for me...HHN can't work in the daytime

Don't ask me to explain because I don't understand why...I think going from happy go lucky BTTF theme straight into a haunted house just fell flat

There is very much an aesthetic that was missing pre-house entrance

If it isn't Kabuki theater than I'm not going

Well I meant the BJ character literally is there actively. So you’d think it wouldn’t be hard to keep house rights.

Got it, I misinterpreted...I'm honestly not sure how that works

I assume walk around characters and "attractions" require different rights to be granted.

Hey guys! Does anyone have any inside information on why Marathon of Mayhem played at Universal today? Was it a PR move (would make sense to make them seem like a beacon of hope compared to Disney who just made an extremely controversial decision) ? Was it a test for a future lagoon show (maybe regarding if people on the designated spaces placed for social distancing would be able to get the full experience)? Could it just have been something for all of the team members' hard work? How will the owners of the property's react to it being played after their contract was up? So many questions.

No information on it.

Not a PR move. No one outside a small subset of fans will care about it, which would make it a pointless PR attempt.

Could be testing the program because it’s there.

The TMs, in general, weren’t there. It COULD be for higher ranking employees who got laid off. Especially for those heavily associated with Entertainment and A&D.

The rights owners won’t care because the showing wasn’t public.

Thanks Legacy! That high ranking employee thing makes a ton of sense if it is true. I also recall them testing Cinematic a while back. Maybe they just wanted to switch it up?

Switching to a different type of speculation and one that takes *potential* bad news into a positive light. All of this is obviously assuming they've signed off for safety protocols.

Could they do a "Villains Dessert Party" type thing and open up a portion of the park at night for people to walk through houses etc?

How much does Christmas bring in for them? Could they play off of the HHN vs. Christmas battle they had going intertwine the two in an area or multiple areas of the park? Maybe it's Christmas in the streets, but when you get into some select lines, it's not so jolly anymore. Or maybe an event is hosted by HR BloodnGutz and they do mini celebrations of holidays leading up to next Halloween?

Anybody have additional ideas as to what they could do with the resources they have and making mini special events throughout the next year or so? Even if it's a full go this year, if a pandemic happens again, any input could be the route they go in the future.

I personally have absolutely no idea what they could do to work through it. I do feel that they would do something. Perhaps film the houses themselves? I do like the idea of opening houses to a select portion of the park.

I have to imagine the people who are really into the Holiday offerings wouldn't quite appreciate any Horror Nights elements being thrown in. It's just two completely different vibes catering to different people. I'm sure there is some intersection judging by the Yeti VS Santa ads last year, but I can't see much more than that. I'd probably be on board to watch them experiment with the idea though, if any year is the one to try something completely off the wall it's this one.

I agree. The reason the Chirstmas vs HHN battle that Uni has going is so fun was because it is easy to see how different each event is. Putting them together would ruin it for those who just don't like horror. I do think it could work if it was kind of off to the side though, but clearly a Horror event. People there for Christmas could kind of just realize that "Oh, that's not for me" and ignore it.

you guys already know my stance on HHN this year so i won’t bore or annoy you all further. i just hope whatever happens is in the best interest of the public

I’m in a state of acceptance. Best to save it til next year when they can (hopefully) go all out with the event IMO.

On a completely different and random note, one that popped into my head, does anyone think that a factor in not doing a full Terra Cruentes house was not being allowed to use Midnight Syndicate anymore? If you go back and look at the website and wiki, their music was a HUGE part of that year, of telling the story. Honestly, how would an entire TC house feel without MS music for its respective scenes? I guess they could’ve just done a Demon Cantina house and a throne scarezone, since the former was more reliant on rock music from what I can tell.

It looks like hhn is still happening!!! I just saw on Twitter somebody caught testing for the lagoon show.

1: Stop bringing up COVID, man. It’s always you. There are respective threads for that.
2: I doubt they would completely scrap a promising original house idea because of not being able to use specific music, but anything possible I guess

Look back a page or two, that wasn’t lagoon testing

Reading Legacy's comments about the Theatre coupled with the fact that some people thought it was mannequins, makes me wonder how this would work. Having NOTHING to do with theatre in any way, shape, or form, I have no idea what goes on backstage. Are the costumes and stuff developed/assembled on mannequins or something? I know they have behind the curtain, maybe trap doors or something for stage affects, lighting rigs, changing rooms, makeup mirrors, etc. But is there something where dummies/mannequins/ye olde tyme busts are used? Lots of shows probably use marionettes/puppets for on stage creatures, just like HHN uses in houses, so guessing some of them could be stored offstage and thereby part of the house?

I was responding to someone who alluded to it.

I don't think "scrap" is the right term. I think "considered, but decided not to" is.
