We are picking Zach up early from school 9/22 and leaving straight from there to Orlando (from CLT NC)

He has NO IDEA we're going anywhere, he thinks our next trip is to Disney in April 18 for Star Wars run.

We are going to put this poem I wrote in his lunch box that day:

We love surprises when they

Are in good fun - Time is

Going so slow its almost begun.

To smile & laugh its

Universal and great!

Now is the time to end our long wait!

Then when we pick him up we're going to tell him to read the first word in each line ---- we cannot wait to see his reaction!!!!

Any stories on how you surprised family or friends on your previous trips??

Great idea! A couple of our friends went recently and they told there're 2 kids (9 & 11) while out for a meal and they got so emotional with excitement that they started crying right there in the restaurant! The waitress must have thought something terrible had happened!

On our stay at Universal in May, I had pre purchased 4 day Disney passes, but I didn't tell Alene about it. She really loves MK. So early Monday morning, our third day at Sapphire, I told her we were going to a water park far away and had to get up early to get there. I even had her pack her bathing suit & gear. I was leaving real early since I had read of MK opening early, before rope drop, as a new policy. So we get in the car & drive up I4, and she suspects nothing. We turn into WDW and I told her we were taking a short cut through WDW to get to the water park. Still, she suspected nothing. I didn't tell her about the 4 day ticket until we got to the MK parking lot. She was so happy she started crying. We were able to get into the park more than an hour before rope drop and have a nice casual relaxing breakfast on the Casey's patio off of Main Street. That new opening policy is such a great idea. It gives you an opportunity to relax at MK before it gets crazy. Alene was so happy enjoying the ambiance that she said that was the single best moment of our entire May vacation.

That's incredible! I enjoy that stuff so much, I have so many memories of my dad doing those things for us as kids that it was a no brainer Id do it for mine when I had my chance.

The last two trips we've "won the resort family sweepstakes" and had our room "swagged" out by universal and Disney.

We got a bunch of stuff on amazon and walmart and I had my wife take Zach to the pool or walk the grounds after we checked in as I hurried up to the room to decorate it, wrote a note "from Mickey" or "optimist prime" and walked in on it to a huge surprise each time.

My wife and I laugh about it, and imagine him bringing his kids one day hoping they win the "contest" and his wife asking "what are you talking about??" cause we wont ever have the heart to tell him lol
