HHN Hollywood General Discussion - 2017

Though worst case scenario is that we were all wrong about a Blumhouse mashup, and it got lost in translation that it was just a Purge maze.
God I hope not... we already had a perfect Purge maze last year with "Gauntlet of Fear". The ONLY thing that would've made it better would have been at least 10-15 more scareactors added to the cast.

I know you guys will take this with a grain of salt since I'm new here, but I heard from a friend on the inside that the Blumhouse of Horrors will only feature The Purge, Sinister, and Happy Death Day. No Split or Get Out, surprisingly.

And that every maze leak here was correct (save for ToT, which kept us guessing), but we already knew that.

Really? What a waste of the maze space for Happy Death Day. They could've at least used something like The Visit or Green Inferno if they decided to ditch Ouija, Get Out, & Split. Still excited for Sinister, but at this point it should've just been it's own maze

If that is true about Blumhouse, I'm slightly disappointed to not see Get Out featured. If figured five movies was a bit much to cram into a mash up anyway.

Agreed. I heard Ouija was cut for rights issues from Orlando's maze so I figured it'd apply here as well; however I just don't get why they would have HDD over Get Out & Split(well actually I do I'm just not happy about it). Hopefully HDD delivers and won't be over the top cheesy

I honestly don't see them dropping get out due to the fact that it was a very successful movie and because of its popularity it would honestly would be just dumb

Why are you guys putting faith into someone who's never posted before today
There is that. I find it odd they would scrap Ouija for rights issues this late into the game. As for Get Out, notice this rumor started a day after the Charolettetown nonsense occurred. That might be a reason for dropping Get Out.

IF this is true, then this is a really bad year for shuffling everything around. Maybe Murdy should do an original maze next year to ease the stress of IP issues. :)

That doesn't count since it had enough time and money to be invested in it since it was a permanent attraction, as opposed to a maze that will be temporarily set up for less than 2 months.
you do realize hhn events take a year to make, and each movie would have i bet 4 rooms at most

Yet considering the house of horrors was planned for a while and based on universal properties, as well as this year people assuming too much about given properties and being wrong. Also, just because it's planned for a year doesn't mean that this lineup has been being prepared since last opening night since securing IPs can sometimes go into Spring. Not to mention our assumptions of the mazes this year haven't been too accurate: we assumed we were getting 3 seasons of AHS, we assumed AVED was gonna be based on the first two movies, we assumed the ToT would include all 4 from last year. I'm not saying it's 100% positive about them only doing 3 for Blumhouse, but if it is the case I wouldn't be too shocked.

Lol, why in the world would they change one part of a house this late in the game due to something happening on the other side of the country.

Well...I'm not gonna get too far into it because it would dip into political territory, but we're talking about a park that pulled a show that was tradition for seven years over a blog post. I think it would be a dumb reason, but I wouldn't put it past USH to scrap a racially driven-movie after a racially-driven riot has occurred with the event just a month away. I can see USH getting cold feet about it.

I could see this being a bigger issue in Florida being that's it's closer to the incident, but they're known for shrugging off ninnies and complainers.

I really hope USH doesn't start going the same cautious, oversensitive route that Knott's went with pulling the VR experience (which I still stand by my opinion wasn't anything like offended people described it to be). If they do develop this cautious approach to mazes, I can definitely see lots of trouble when doing original concept mazes, since at least with questionable material in mazes based on IPs, they have the valid argument that those elements come from the actual creators of the property, whereas questionable or "offensive" elements in original mazes can have fingers pointed at Murdy and his crew directly.

Florida ignored minor complaints, but makes necessary adjustments for socially relevant sensitivities. They did it last year. They exercise good foresight about that stuff, in general.

Get Out wasn't planned for Orlando though. It looks they were always striving for a more paranormal route.
