As the film doesn't have a title and that it's relatively early in development, the title of the thread is that. ;)

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Disney and Lucasfilm has now begun development on a Obi-Wan Spinoff for the Star War's Universe. This has been reported, as the Writer/Director of Billy Elliot and The Hours (along with the upcoming telling of the broadway hit, Wicked) is in current talks to be directing the film; along with writing the film with Lucasfilm brass.

It hasn't been mentioned if Ewan Mcgregor would reprise his role as of yet, nor has this been given a date. But that if it is to come in the near future, it may drop into theaters in 2020.

What do you think? Would you want to see something else for the SWU, or are you excited to see what they could tell? Comment down below!!

Curious to see which phase of his life this will cover. Will it just be stories from the sand and his older years, 0r will it be more from the Clone wars era, or even his younger years? I think the Clone Wars era might be the most interesting. It could allow them to bring in Anakin and Qui Gon, and other prequel characters. Of course, it could end up being the Rey origin story...... Lots of ways they can go with this really.

Honestly, if they play it smart; i think they will go in the middle of Episode 3 and 4, before the events of the SWRebel's Episode of "Twin Suns".

My guess, the film will have cameos of Darth Vader, Ashoka, and Qui-Gon. And that they will bring more about how the jedi's were who they were.

I don't know the Rebel Timeline.

But if it's between 3 and 4, its all Tatooine. Unless he left in there somewhere. But even if he did, Qui Gon is dead, and I'm assuming Ashoka should be dead as well unless she survived the Jedi Purge. Or are you thinking flashbacks?

I would highly reccomend watching Rebels.

At the end of Season 1, Ashoka was fully present and that In the Clone Wars, Qui Gon was admittedly a force ghost.

Hard to get excited about a film that's not coming out until 2020, but nice to see that this is still alive.

Yeah, it's the same way I feel with Indy 5 and pretty much any DC film right now in general (but for the reason of one project either happening or not), but I do think that out of all the spin-off films in the middle ground, it was Obi-Wan and Rogue One that made the most sense to me as a spin-off, as they can pull some things from that period of time that could actually make sense as a Star Wars film.

Yeah. I really liked Rogue One so hopefully this movie can repeat that.

On another note... with the current trilogy ending in 2019 and this film set for 2020, is it safe to assume that Rian Johnson's trilogy will kickoff in 2021? I can't imagine Disney wanting to go a year without releasing a Star Wars film.

I'd say the plan is one a year unless they start seeing diminishing returns. Then they might slow it down some.
