We're over for our annual Orlando holiday and we stayed at the Royal Pacific this week and the (very chatty) girl piloting the courtesy boat told everyone over the tannoy to get a final ride in on ET as it's closing to make room for Nintendo. Any truth in this?

Sounds like a few WDW bus drivers I know...

I hope not!

But in all seriousness, it's unlikely that someone in that position would be privy to that information at this juncture. They hear rumors just like we hear rumors.

Case in point: I was wandering around the Indiana Jones Outpost shop at Hollywood Studios in October of 2015 and struck up a conversation with the nice girl working in there. We talked for a few minutes about the plans for Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land that had been announced a couple months earlier at D23, and she said the rumors she'd heard from other CMs was that Toy Story Land would be taking over Indy's plot! Obviously that wasn't the case.

I don't think Universal Creative or Management are dropping any hints or inside scoops to the hotel shuttle boat skippers. Probably just repeating internet rumors. Unfortunately, to the average guest any type of announcement or information like this from an employee seems official.

If I was Mark Woodbury, I'd drop random fake things to employees all the time. Like yeah, we are looking at taking out ET and building a Stratacoaster.

I took it with a pinch of salt as it was the first I'd heard of it. Love ET.

Got 3 rides in over our two days just in case as it could be a couple of years before we're back.

Unless he was in danger of toppling over onto guests, I don't see any possible safety concerns. And if the entire ride was going away, what's the value in removing a single AA at this early stage?

A refurb of Botanicus sounds more likely than a removal.

According to a few legitimate insiders, Star Wars was going to take over Indy's plot in the original concept. :)

The way the TMs explained it to me was that when they reconfigured the forest queue to make it wider, they removed the railing in front of Botanicous' rock, making it too easy for guests to grab him now. I hope that isn't correct, and that they find a way to bring him back.
