HHN Hollywood General Discussion - 2017

The only areas I think that can have videos are FDTD queue, and outside 747.
You're not thinking 4th dimensionally.... all you gotta do is set up a screen (or use the side of the building... aka Mummy) & projector. Orlando has done it with the sprung tents in the past. Also the JP queue has tvs, they could use those.

The Blumhouse Theater Facade looks to have 4 sides. I was thinking they may have a Poster of each property on each side? Happy Death Day. The Purge. Sinister. Get Out.

The event begins in 26 days (less when you factor in employee preview) and we're STILL waiting for Insidious & Blumhouse to be announced.... :saw:

Although, at least we're not Knotts... they're having their reveal event on the 31st. :cautious:

I am, I just don't think they have anywhere to do that in mummy. Now that I think about it, the wall next to where Ash is going could have a queue video. And I didn't mention JP because I wasn't sure if there are one or two sets of tv we pass through. I think the main thing to point out about queue videos are Murdy doesn't want to do originals anymore, so their idea of a queue video is showing clips from movies, which I guess is better than nothing

They can set up a screen where the bulk of the queue extends, think of it like an archway to pass under or by... Orlando did it in 2005-2007, hell in 2008 they even set one up inside a soundstage that was being used for queue. For "Penn & Teller" they just projected the queue video onto the side of MIB.

Honestly, a lot of the queue videos for Orlando were just montage clips with music (something even Murdy can handle). Some were specific to the house (even if it was an original). Only a few times has an actual queue video been created specifically for a maze- 2006's Screamhouse & Die-In, 2007's NOES & The THING: Assimilation, 2009's Leave it to Cleaver, 2010's Zombiegeddon, 2011's Bloodengutz etc etc...

Has it ever happened that stuff was still being put up after opening night? Or maybe even stuff that didn't work/get a good reaction that got removed

TONS of stuff. Things constantly change through the event, that's why I prefer to go opening weekend, mid-event, and final weekend to see everything they tweaked. For example, for the Scream 4 Your Life Terror Tram, they completely removed an ENTIRE fence-maze on the backlot after opening weekend. Keep in mind, this was the ONLY Scream related thing on that entire TT, as it was supposed to be the Stab-A-Thon section in front of the Bates Motel. After that, the tram was basically Ghostface as the host and then a bunch of random fake movies you walk through, with Ghostface just randomly in the scenes. I'm not sure if they took it down because of traffic jams or because it was just bad/bare. Other examples: the barker in the Purge scarezone got silenced after complaints, the strippers in FDTD got covered with robes, Chucky's Insult Emporium was cancelled half way and replaced with Terminator 2:3D -- etc., etc..

They must be shooting commercials or promotions because I can't think of a single moment in the maze where we would need a digital version of Jack.

As someone said above, it's the projection.

For the Mummy, they've projected on the escalator wall. I feel like they've shown movies there before, too... maybe for Silent Hill to show the trailer? Once they projected lights onto the Jurassic Park showroom wall, but that'd be super high up. For La Llorona, they installed some TVs in the queue of Shrek. And back when we had the Wild Wild Wild West Stunt Show venue, for F13: Camp Blood in 07-08, they put up a screen and projected clips from Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X, and Freddy vs. Jason.

I loved back when Backdraft & the Special Effects Stages were still around, they used the queue for those for the Mummy venue. So the TVs in the queue played clips from Platinum Dunes' Chainsaw movies and then the next year a bunch of Saw clips. Also, there was a giant screen (think where the Transformers are battling out on the building are now), and back when there were GOOD scarezones down there (07-09), you could see the screen at the end of the street as you got scared. For TCM, it was just clips of the movies. But for Saw, the little puppet would pop up on the screen and basically talk down the entire street, kinda luring you into the maze.

If my source was wrong and Get Out is in Blumhouse of Horrors, I'll be ecstatic. I feel like Purge is the only BIG property in that maze otherwise, and I'd really just love more variety inside of it. Plus, it's rare that I see one of my top three films of the year in a maze.

I'm hoping to go to the park sometime this week just to look at all the construction. And maybe stop by the It Experience and try my chances in the standby line for walk-ins.

Get Out's in the maze; Im so excited to see what they use for it considering it's mostly psychological horror

To be honest its a waste of time unless you have a reservation

I went the other day as a walk in and waited 2 hours. Keep in mind it broke down a few times and someone lost their phone and had to go back through to find it...

Honestly I thought it was worth it. Im really excited for It and the scenic was delightful. Not super scary, but scary enough to keep me going until HHN...
