I'm so stoked for USH to have a legit coaster option, but wasn't expecting something on the level of Velocioaster or Stardust. Recently I've been seeing this hyped up as a potential top 10 coaster in California which struck me as surprising with Magic Mountain down the road.

Can any coaster heads who are far more knowledgeable than this layperson weigh in on how they expect this to stack up?

It's the drifting aspect of the coaster that's going to add that extra bit of "oomph" that differentiates it from many of the coasters at Magic Mountain or Disneyland. It's going to pop into a lot of thrill-seekers' lists because it's something you just can't find easily here, meaning it's going to stand out hard as something uniquely different and new amongst the various parks in the area. Couple that with the fact a lot of the hype is being compounded by people who have been waiting for something like this to come to USH for a long, long time -- and if you've been around long enough, probably never even thought you'd see the day -- and you can see that it's just excitement in its purest form that something big, fresh, and long unexpected is on the horizon.

it’s also going to rule to have a coaster of this caliber at a park that, ah, tends to have better operations than magic mountain and knott’s berry farm.

It's also very unique in how it works with the hill as terrain and encircles the starway. Lot of selling points here.

Awesome! Thank you for the in depth thoughts - are there any Intamin spinning launch coasters that are a similar model?

I think the fact that it really fits the F&F IP to a tee is another big plus, in all the ways that Supercharged does not...

The best way to describe Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is that it is more of a Petrie dish of other coaster systems and styles to make up for a prototype version of the Intamin MultiDimensional Coaster model. The MDC, for short.

  • Seating configuration should be more along the lines of Objectif Mars from Futuroscope--alongside the ability to rotate and spin as a result
  • Spinning will be controlled and pointed at times to face specific directions like Guardians of The Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind from Epcot (even if it's not Intamin's model--the comparison is a good one)

As I've said before, don't discount the thrill factor of a coaster that flies down a ravine, as opposed to all those flat parking lot coasters out there. Four of Kennywood's coasters (three of them ancient woodies) are pure fun as they go up and down steep ravines, like Hollywood's ravine. Damn enjoyable.

Yeah, I'm never not gobsmacked when I see it all in person. Ever since they knocked the buildings down I can hardly believe it every time I look, and it's been years.

Big moves this month for Hollywood Drift on the lot--including a major milestone: the first pull-through of Hollywood Drift.

once the pullthrough begins, USH's national anthem will rise and dominate Studio City.

If Gasolina isn't blasting from these trains throughout the layout, I ❌️DO NOT❌️ want it.

I really hope Tokyo Drift is also on here. But not a remake or remix, just the original as its so damn iconic. Bawitdaba also works PERFECTLY with the layout. Bandoleros sounds good in theory but feels a bit slow when lined up with the layout. Go Off, Act A Fool, I Won, and We Own It are all songs I'd say could also make the list, IF we do end up getting on-ride music for this..

If they don't have a playlist of all the upbeat songs from the franchise playing in the queue/exit, I'll be disappointed lol

With being said, I still can't look past the awful brick box of doom warehouse. Such a poor design choice. Hopefully they can rectify it with tall trees

Taking a look, it seems like they are planning on adding palm trees around the station building. With that said, it still won't take away from the fact that it looks like the Sawyers have a permanent residence in the park now.
