Yes. This is real.

NBC is turning New York’s Rockefeller Center into a haunted house, with a little help from Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and the team behind Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights. The company is launching “Jimmy Fallon’s Tonightmares” next month, a haunted maze experience based on the nightmares of the late night TV host, with “10 terrifying rooms” of frights.

The company says that it will bring “the nightmares to life in a fully immersive haunt with terrifying sets, practical effects and scares behind every corner,” and was designed with the team behind the Halloween Horror Nights experiences that have become a popular annual tradition at the Universal Studios theme parks. NBCUniversal’s Global Franchise Management group also collaborated with Fallon on the real-life experience.

Y'all want Horror Unleashed in NY?

Are you sure? Are you really, really sure?

Horror Unleashed in NY:

This is literally <5 minutes from my office. I guess I’ll check it out?

Looking at the details of where it’s located, it’s in former retail space in the underground/subway level of Rock Center. Nothing has been in that spot for ages so it was probably an easy build location and could be R&D for seeing interest in the market.

I’m also surprised that there’s no reference to Peacock or David S. Pumpkins.

Didn’t have this on my 2024 bingo card…

Could be interesting and different. It also could be lame and overpriced, for the experience. We’ll have to wait and see, I guess.

Curious to see what else the attraction might offer outside of the maze. Maybe a pop up bar or something, if they can swing it?

They are collabing with some of the HHN team, and I know someone who was commissioned to make a few custom items for this and they don't do cutesy to say the least, haha, so I have hope! I wish I was going to be around the NYC area when it was running to check it out, but I may have to send a few friend proxies in my place

I'd have to imagine if this is successful, an Unleashed somewhere in NY will be fast tracked once they get a few initial results from Vegas.
I would not be surprised at all if this was a test of the waters for them.

I'm intrigued by this. I don't think it will be on the level of HHN - but I think people will be surprised by the quality of it.

I just wonder how/where in 30 Rock? I know there's a lot of vacant real estate in NYC, but in Rockefeller Center I think it's still prime and pretty well occupied. I don't think they have a lot of space in their studios with Tonight Show and Kelly Clarkson filming there along with their NBC and MSNBC news operations.

Rock Center is a VERY large office complex with at least 5 buildings and all connected with an underground set of tunnels that’s open for retail and dining. If you’ve seen the ice rink at the bottom center of 30 Rock, the retail level is at that point. The studios are more inside the buildings with security and this will be in the public area.

I swung by the spot where I thought it was going to be and I was right. This is a former retail space so should be plenty of room for the maze. However, I wouldn’t expect its own bar or anything like that.
