Just announced yesterday and figured that this probably deserves it's own thread.

http://www.newsarama.com/22573-marv...-infinity-war-films-cap-thor-3-subtitles.html

It's nice to see some of the lesser known characters get their solo movies. However, this process of splitting movies into two parts has just crossed into the getting out of hand territory.

I'd argue that happened when Mockingjay was broke up into 2 films.

But in all honesty, Infinity War will need it. We're talking the possibility of 20+ "main" characters that all need to feel crucial to the story and whats going on. That's not going to work with one film. I mean, the following will all need ample screen time:

Iron Man
Captain America
Thor
Hulk
Black Widow
Hawkeye
Scarlet Witch
Quicksilver
Vision
Star Lord
Gamora
Drax
Groot
Rocket
Captain Marvel
Doctor Strange
Black Panther
Thanos
Inhumans (?)
Ant-Man (?)
Winter Soldier (?)
Flacon (?)
Adam Warlock (?)
War Machine (?)

I mean...that's a lot of people in one film, and the list doesn't even include any of the smaller players.

Yeah I mean you have to think that the Defendors will be in there too, which is 4 more characters. I think quite a few will die in the first part, making way for the Inhumans and Captain Marvel in Part 2.

I doubt you see the Defenders in the movies. Maybe as cameos but nothing more than that.

And I doubt anyone dies as well.

Throughout their history, Marvel has on the comic book end, a number of huge epic multi issue crossover confrontations that included most of their characters. But being such a mishmash of plot lines and too many superheroes, they were't very good. I suspect the same will happen with a movie. One of those was a battle concerning Thanos.

I'm sorry, but if they have 20 characters going up against Thanos and none of them die...he won't feel that powerful. Mark my words, a few will die, and they most likely will be people from a team or the Netflix shows. My guess is a Defender or two, and possibly Hawkeye or even Cap since he isn't locked into any more movies past Infinity War

If anyone dies, it'll be undone at the end of the movie. Death = the end of profits

It's always been the Marvel way. Most of the characters that were killed off re emerged in some form in later issues.

Spoiler: Iron Man will become a villain and die in Infinity War. There will be no more RDJ stand-alone Iron Man films. And of course, Marvel will simply reboot the franchise with a new actor a few years past that happening. Mark my words.

Iron Man will already be a villain in Civil War, after which he'll reform.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Iron Man Dies in Part 2. It would be one of those movie moments where the feels start to come out and you realize how much of his story we've explored on screen.

RDJ will always be Tony Stark. He practically is a living version of the character. But I don't see him playing the role post Infinity War - Part 2. There will inevitably be a reboot someday, but THIS story needs to be given a proper ending first. There should be at least a 8-10 year dark period before an Iron Man reboot happens. It's possible to do, but it all depends on how this new crop of mid to lower-tier comics do in the mean time.

Fiege has said many a time that their plan, when it's necessary, is to treat these roles like James Bond. Someone else will slide in and the story will continue.

As much as some people probably won't like that, I'd be ok with that. It means it all actually was for something. It didn't just happen so everyone could get their paycheck, go home, reboot.

While I think new actors in these roles will be amazingly tough to get used to after what will be 11 years and 8 movies with RDJ as Tony Stark (same with Cap, Thor etc), we have to move on eventually.

Techically, hes not going to be the villan...as both are good people but are very much on two sides, ones government and ones the resistance (if this is considered a spoiler i'd be pretty upset..) and I think why Black Panthers coming in to be that middle-character instead of spiderman is just rights...And to put in some more info, at the event; people asked Kevin about Spiderman being in the MCU and he shot them down pretty quick..

I mean, if you've ever read Civil War, Iron Man is 100% in the wrong. The guy becomes an INCREDIBLE a-hole in that story. Like not in his regular, smarmy way. In a 100% people hated him kind of way.

I just hope that the movie creates more of a gray area. Similar to politics, people will agree and disagree on both sides. I think it'll be a much more difficult challenge (but an infinitely more intriguing one) if they can pull off exposing each side's intentions without taking directorial favor over one or the other. A movie with two protagonists facing off is just so much better than easily painting one as the bad guy.
