Minion Café opens at Universal Studios Hollywood

Minion Café has officially opened to the public during Universal’s brand-new “Taste of Universal” event. Sporting a vibrant, retro-style brick exterior with cute murals based on the beloved characters and locations from the source films painted all around, the restaurant brings a new element of life

I'll admit, I'm disappointed.

Gru's Lab was probably too industrial and consequently unfriendly, but this looks like something you'd find in a budget hotel, not a world class theme park.

Pre Nintendoland...I think this works but now after seeing taods place...like why can't all the restaurants be like kinda attractions?

I'm not even talking that much maybe like a shadow window (like in the star tours Q) where you see minions "making the food and being silly" with some sounds. Also a few more props and bam....it would be really cute.
Its just weird to me that people who make pop ups on there own budgets make cool restaurants but theme parks are like...Posters.

Anyway its a who cares because kids and mos adults just want to grab the food and leave anyway..they are not us who want things to feel special and unique

I actually didn't mind the vibe. Modern and whimsical is a tough combo (and modern more won out), but the design works for me. And I actually liked the meatball grilled cheese. It didn't knock my socks off, but liked it.

It gives off a big Googie vibe. Which I guess kind of matches the theme for the Minions movie.

Ah yes, quite compatible within the mise en scene and aesthetic themes of the cinematic classic Minions, released in 2015 by Universal Pictures, and starring the eponymous Minions as themselves. Hi, I'm Ben Mankiewicz...

The menu for this place is not bad at all. It was too hot to put much effort into moving through the park at a faster pace, otherwise I would've eaten here because Gru's Lab Cafe (which was rarely open) was my go-to for the Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese.

I remember the "meatball sub" was good, but forgettable. I wonder if the re-imagined "meatball parmesan grilled cheese" is better.

That "chicken bacon ranch Mac n cheese" also sounds good too. Has anyone tried the "pork ramen bowl"???

Okay so I was hungry & needed food... I made the mistake of going here... was in & out of there within 10mins.

Got a better pic of the menu. They also had "Unicorn" & "Evil Minion" cupcakes. Also a "Banana Pudding" dessert option (sorry didn't grab a pic)

The old pulled pork grilled cheese at Gru's Lab Cafe was very good & worth the price. I decided to give this a chance. Ugh... terrible.

The fries were actually really good & fresh too!

As for the sandwich itself :poop: They give you the BBQ sauce in a little cup on the side. I went to add the BBQ sauce to the sandwich only to find onions. *vomits* I don't do onions, so had to pick those out (there's no mention of them listed). If that unexpected addition wasn't bad enough, the amount of pulled pork that was actually in this grilled cheese was literally ONLY the equivalent of one bite (maybe two SMALL bites). For the $14(?) price, it was such a waste. Do not recommend.

I'd love to try the Chicken Bacon Ranch Mac-n-cheese or Pork Ramen Bowl, but I'm hesitant now.

I did see someone get the nachos, it was a surprisingly decent portion, but I'd classify as a snack rather than meal.

If they're anything like their Orlando counterparts, they're shockingly tasty. Very much recommend.

I’ll tell you what cocaine is. The Felonious Float. It’s very quickly become my favorite theme park dessert of all time and if I could, I’d have three or more daily.
