Hence the above post clarifying my point. The place in many aspects seems poorly run rn which seems to be causing trust issues for many. If Kong is gonna be closed for a bit, I shouldn’t have to read a fan forum to know that.

What other ways do you think this place is poorly run? The only real issue, as far as we’ve been discussing here, is that there’s no communication about the closure. Which I agree with. Not sure why it’s being cast as the resort being poorly run.

Not asking rhetorically.

It’s just a terrible look for a worldwide destination resort. On top of their new park underperforming, many attractions closed at USF, a now unnannounced closed ride at IOA, mismanaging AP’s for Epic, just feels incoherent rn.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single photo from any site or blog about the closure? Are there signs out front? Listed as closed at the park entrance? I’d feel bad for people who only get to come every so many years that wanted to experience that.

As for the other issues you listed that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Let’s hope they can get Kong open and turn the corner with Epic.

I did not know that rides were union. Do you think that each ride type has its own union (roller coasters are in URCA101 and dark rides are in UDW305)?

There’s a danger of 2+2=5 here… sometimes Hagrid has a dodgy few days, sometimes other things do — doesn’t mean it’s a ‘thing’ just because there’s a (rare fluke) longer-term thing also happening in the background at the moment.

I’ve seen a few vloggers mention it in passing but it’s generally flown pretty under the radar so far. The ride has simply been removed from the wait time boards altogether.

Just curious really. A few days where it was down all day. Hopefully nothing long term significant.

Dudley? I was there all week, monitoring wait times, and don’t remember a day when it was down?

Thanks. Looks like it opened for a couple of hours in the morning on Thursday and was down the rest of the day (but up today). And yeah, Tuesday was down all day (but up on Wednesday). Weird.

Yeah....That's what I thought. Up & down....strange...Anyway hope it's OK , IOA seems kinda bare with JPRA refurbing, Kong down for a while, and no more Lost Continent except for Mythos....Like old time Septembers. The busy Septembers starting in 2017 are past tense I guess. Less UK'ers probably contribute to the slow....along with economic/travel factors.

I pity the poor Universal maintenance crews. They certainly have to be in constant overtime territory.

A ride going down unexpectedly is a big reason you don’t shut down attractions and cut entertainment without immediately beginning work on a replacement - it leaves the resort threadbare if everything doesn’t go exactly to plan.

Traditionally, after opening an expensive new park you have to invest heavily into your existing properties - look at the history of WDW and Uni. It’s the worst possible time to cut back, especially if the new park is experiencing high profile growing pains.

IOA is getting an entire new land, USF is getting a new coaster, and Epic has two expansions seemingly in the works... all being built at the same time... Horror Make Up, JPRA, Finnegans, and Thunder Falls are all down for complete redos (1 restaurant and 1 attraction per park). There are three new restaurants in the works currently for CityWalk.

Dislike the changes all you want. I respect the opinion. I just don't get this narrative that UOR is sleeping at the wheel in terms of investments.

There’s a difference between being legitimately frustrated with decisions and grasping at straws for something else to be mad about.

Feels like we’re starting to blur that line around here a bit more lately.

I hear you, but I also understand that this list is basically:

-replacing a dead land that hasn’t been announced and has no public ETA
-replacing a roller coaster with another roller coaster
-more stuff going into the existing park
-refurbishments that they needed to do whether they built a new park or not
-citywalk, which I personally wouldn’t lump in with theme park stuff

So it’s at the very least not the same as USF getting Men in Black online after Islands of Adventure opened.

And all of that's fine if your argument is "quality = bad" or "I don't like these IPs" or "We need fresh expansions over replacements" or "Universal needs to communicate ETAs better". I'd be more than happy to have those discussions. The issue is, none of those were the issue presented.

The specific argument brought up was "Universal isn't investing heavily into their existing properties and is cutting back at the worst possible time" which is completely unserious. I'm just so bored of the dramatics. It prevents real discussions from happening and frankly, it makes me wonder why I still log on just to read the same weird, joyless arguments ad nauseam.
