It has been reported, that John M. Chu, will be helming Universal's live action feature adaptation, of their hit broadway show: Wicked.

Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, upcoming In the Heights) will direct Universal Pictures’ Wicked.

John M. Chu will be joining the project, as this will mark the second feature length musical for him to be in his repitor, since this year's upcoming Into The Heights.

Ah, so this must be why Chu left the Disney+ Willow series. He cited scheduling conflicts.
