I would love a hyper launch coaster but would be disappointed if Rhino Rally's water portion goes away. That's one of the best parts of the ride.

The water portion is the best part of the ride. It's the only part that seperates it from Kilimanjaro and the only part that makes it a ride.

I completely agree. It's one of the parts of the ride that I really look foward to. I do feel thought that an expansion with a different scenario may spice it up a bit. It gets a bit dull after the first few go arounds.

That entire park needs a new path layout. It takes a good 30 minutes to walk to Sheikra from the entrance! I agree with Samuele, it needs a dark ride to get away from the blazing florida heat. The only other indoor attraction there is the 4d theater. They need to bring back the motion simulator adventure tours

I agree with it being the best part of the ride, BUT it breaks down more than Test Track does on a monthly basis.
The water section has been way too un-realiable over the years. Smart decision by BG if they do indeed take it out.

More news from screamscape.
Park News - (2/16/10) According to a couple of insiders, Busch Gardens Tampa is preparing to close down Katonga forever by August, so if you haven’t seen it, you’ve got the next 6 months to do so.* Me… I never cared for the show much.* Fantastic sets… but the plot put me to sleep halfway through the show.* The popular rumor is that the park may be bringing back a new ice show to replace it as BGT was always famous for their very popular Ice Shows from years past.* In other news, I’m told that currently Gwazi Lion and the Stanley Falls log ride are also closed for seasonal rehab work. Stanley Falls will remain closed through to March 5th.*
*** Meanwhile the official Busch Gardens Tampa website has posted some other interesting news to their ride rehab page.* Mixed in with the other rehabs, it mentions that the railroad will close in Mid April through to the end of May, which will immediately be followed by the closure of the Skyride on June 1st through to at least the end of 2010, and likely even longer. Sounds like work for the 2011 project will be starting before you know it. Other upcoming rehabs of interest will include:
Rhino Rally – 3/8/10 through 3/12/10
Train – 4/17/10 through 5/27/10
Kumba – 5/1/10 through 5/27/10
Gwazi Gliders – 5/10/10 through 5/14/10
Wild Surge – 5/17/10 through 5/21/10
Skyride – 6/1/10 through 12/31/10
Phoenix – 8/23/10 through 9/2/10
Bumper Cars – 8/1/10 through 11/30/10
Sandstorm – 9/7/10 through 9/12/10
Congo River Rapids – 9/20/10 through 10/8/10
Tidal Wave – 10/11/10 through 10/29/10

This is just an idea that probably wouldn't happen. If they're using the skyride building for the station, I think it would be cool if they turned Edge of Africa into the queue. It could be like Manta combining animals and roller coasters.

From Screamscape:
I’m told that BGT has placed the frame for a new topiary of a Cheetah out near the old stable area. Given that this area may be very close to rumored station for the 2011 coaster, everyone is wondering if this is a hint as to the theme of the ride. I’ve got to admit, I’ve heard that the coaster could very well have a Cheetah theme too, which was thought to go along with the coaster’s multiple launch zones and overall theme. The popular rumor is that this new coaster was inspired by Maverick at Cedar Point, and will be low to the ground and very fast. You can see a picture of the new topiary at Florida Thrills.
As for the rest of the rumors… well several sources have confirmed hearing that the water portion of Rhino Rally is on the way out. To make up for it, new animal display areas will be added to Rhino Rally, which will expand further out into the Serengeti instead. As for the old water portion of the ride… we’ve heard from a couple of people that sections of it may be reused for the new 2011 speed coaster project to house one of the themed launch zones. For whatever reason, this themed area may involve some water, putting some of the Rhino Rally equipment to use somehow. As for the Rally… I’ve also heard speculation that new vehicles may be under consideration. The old fleet is certainly showing it’s age, and I’m told that management was always reluctant to replace them due to the damage caused daily by the water portion of the ride. With the water portion on the way out… new Rally trucks could be on the way in.
Taking a nod from some of the newest Busch park creations, they want this coaster to have an extensive queue that will include animal habitats and displays along the way. Realizing that the Edge of Africa area is right next to the proposed new station building, don’t be surprised to see some of this area redesigned and repurpose to serve as the queue for the new coaster. To allow for this and possibly to send traffic around the construction area, we may see a new pathway built to take guests from the pathway near Rhino Rally and the Train Station over to the Edge of Africa.
So the bottom line here is that this whole unknown project that is just starting may very well turn into several projects that we’ll see open up over the next 2-4 years. A new coaster, a greatly expanded and changed Rhino Rally experience as well as an expanded Edge of Africa, and possibly much more. The train for example, could be changed too. Various survey markers near the Skyway station are apparently labeled “C/L Rail”, where C/L stands for Center Line, indicating a possible new layout for how the train will wind through this area of the park.

I would love to see a Maverick-styled coaster.

More markers here. Since one of them says path on it, I think they might be for the rumored walkway from Edge of Africa to the Nairobi Train Station.

THe skyride station is the home to there Big Haunt every year be interesting to see what happens there. I see the sesame street thing being a Huge Hit for BGT.
I say DED was more bigger (or at least pushed more) than nightshade last year, granted both did really well with the scares though.

Many of them say path... they run Parallel towards EoA, that box area says something else.. I need to bring telephoto lens to see what they say.
