My guess is the Parking Booths on Universal Blvd will be relocated south past the hotel and offer more separation from the intersection and offer hotel parking access. Much needed for years. (Perhaps King Kong Parking will finally be utilized for something?)

What I am more curious about will be the access points from Jurassic Parking into Citywalk. All of these will have to be closed permanently to force guests to reach the new security areas.

News - Universal Studios Hollywood Projects 515 & 294: New Resort & Security Overhaul

As originally found by Theme Park Wizard on Twitter, NBCUniversal has filed three permits today: for an 11 story hotel structure east of the property. https://twitter.com/ParkWizar1/status/1653557739564732416 I have also done checks and can confirm it's legitimacy.

Park Fans has brought in the heat! Come join them as they dive into the permit plans for P515 and P924--Universal Studios Hollywood's brand new hotel & Security changes!!!!

Yeah

I know I'm not a big fan of the hotel...but all these other changes do not feel good for USH

I go weekly....you know whats nice about USH compared to Disney and even six flag? its easy you park and walk not far to the park

I hope they make the new process as nice...but I'll have to see it because blocking off easy ways into the park to me doesn't sound like a win and many will say its the first step to a resort....maybe? But when we have no late night places and even tonight the first night of grinchmas the park closes at 9 PM and for now only one new ride is coming even if they redo simpsons land thats not "adding" things for people to stay later

So I will hope for the best but will miss simple easy Universal and I see nothing in the future that will make this place a resort like Disneyland anytime soon just not enough to do

Yeah sorry man, they’re gonna have to shut down the park to build the hotel. They might even have to tear down Nintendo World so they can have room for parking. I know it sucks, but hotels make far more money that a stupid land based on an Italian Plumber.

I think you're making this change out to be way worse than it will be. You still have to go through security to get to the park right now. All this is doing is moving that checkpoint to other places on the property. Like, if you regularly park in Frankenstein, it might actually make your entrance into the park easier because you won't have to go all the way down past the fountain to get to security and then back towards the main gate. Honestly, the biggest change is probably going to be for people who are just going to CityWalk for the movie theater. They'll have to go through security just to get from parking to the theater, which could add a good chunk of time.

Also, you have no idea what they're planning for the park. It's much better to have this kind of infrastructure in place before a big new thing opens up than waiting to build it afterwards. They haven't even broken ground on any of this, so it'll be years before it's complete anyway. It'll be good to have the hotel for the Olympics when the market will be flooded with international guests looking for a place to stay. Just because they're not rushing to build them right now doesn't mean that big things aren't coming. There's a decent chance that Hollywood Drift will be the last major thing before the Olympics, so thst means the next major thing won't come until 2029 or 2030, which means they probably won't start construction on them until '26 or '27.

This is going to be the most dramatic sight line change in theme park history. Like, it's going to completey change the energy of this park. I'm very excited to see the official design and what the theme will be.

The worse case scenario is a generic Gensler modern style hotel that will add nothing to the placemaking of the park. Second worse is a non-sequitur "resort" theme like "tropical" or "paradise."

Another scenario is an IP themed hotel like Oz or Hogwarts, but that seems risky and unlikely.

The most likely scenario is a themed but sophisticated hotel that sets up the "premise" of the park and leverages its unique authentic history... a stylish, clean, but art deco hotel inspired by the golden age of Hollywood. This allows them to celebrate all the famous stars, characters, and movies throughout the hotel.

...and it would be named some version of:

Universal Studios Hollywood Grand Hotel
Universal Hollywood Grand Hotel
Universal Studios Grand Hotel -- Hollywood

There would be a premium steak house called The Director's Cut filled with giant black and white photos of all the famous directors that have worked on Universal Pictures.

That's fair, but I'll offer you a counter point.

I have been to DL several times but never to USH because of several factors, a big one being an easy-to-access local hotel. This is a major missing point for the resort and is needed before the Olympics. It's a chicken and the egg situation, can't have late night stuff unless you have folks nearby.

I'll share a point that I'll have in this, because I think it's a fair one to bring up; with USH's direct connection to the LA Metro network (even to the point of where it is the *only one* out of the major theme parks in SoCal with a direct rail connection (edit: USH is the only domestic park in the sake of the whole UDX line that has a direct metro connection. The other Universal destinations globally, even Great Britain to seemingly the potential extent--all have rail connection to get people to the property), I think having an on-site property and having a "Bubble" has been something that they have long since needed.

My counter to @Jerroddragon is that I think with the security changes that you bring in. The curation of the bubble when it is enacted and enplace will force CityWalk Hollywood to directly adapt and morph accordingly as a result. Be if it's with one hotel to start; it does help at least push things to start moving forward.

It's not completely full-proof; but the process of a hotel at USH is a monumental and massive shift to the dicotamy of what exactly USH will be becoming; when it begins to be in proper operation. And that is frankly because, it isn't a supporting hotel like that of a Hilton/Sheraton. It is one that is of Universal's to claim. It pushes USH to begin to become a multi-day, because of Potter and SNW, and of Fast.

Not that the park really needs it, but do you they would offer Early Park Admission for this hotel? Or is being as close as you could possibly be to the park worthy enough of the price tag this thing will have?

Grand Helios in Orlando has it and that's inside the park itself, so I'm assuming this hotel will have it.

They c an easily do EA for SNW and Potter. Thats not even considering the possibility of a new major addition by the time this thing is ready.

Wouldn't Hogsmeade and F&F make the most sense? Keep the Lower Lot closed until park open to save on staffing costs.

Forgot about F&F! Yeah having EA for Potter and F&F would absolutely be worth it for the out-of-towners staying there.

Thinking for the long-term but if that rumor ever comes to fruition about a Diagon Alley with Hogwarts Express there's value for your EA right there.

See I thought of early access for SNW too, the issue would be that they'd have to stop making money on the current Early Access ticket.
