I mean, Shaw literally screams "Call in the drones!" Doesn’t make the scenario much less absurd, but I expect absurdity from Fast and Furious lol. I just roll my eyes

I'm gonna be so real, everytime I've ridden it, I have literally no idea what's happening and I can't hear squat. I just want it to end.

Edit: Oml I didn't realize Orlando uses the exact same key art as Hollywood. All they did was draw over the tram, lmao.

I think F&F Supercharged was a victim of "too much of a good thing". I think at the time, Universal got cocky from a (what was at the time) a very positive response from King Kong 3D.

So of course, instead of trying something new, they made the classic error of "If people love this, let's give them more." And now you basically have two of the same concept in the same tram tour. Which nearly made it pointless from day one.

The ride is just so fundamentally unserious and cheesy, and not in a good way that mirrors the films playfulness.

I think that's exemplified by the following thought experiment. If every single actor in Supercharged was replaced by a minion just speaking the exact same lines in gibberish but with subtitles, it would immediately be a better ride for the simple reason that the tone would fit perfectly. (And I absolutely *detest* the minions.)

Vin Diesel clinging onto a drone and doing awkward CGI acrobatics to save the day? Silly. Bob hanging onto a drone screaming and accidentally causing it to crash? Comedic genius. It just underscores how poorly the story beats of the ride work that the MINIONS would improve your overall coherency and fun factor.

I want to add that the tram gets hit with like 4 missiles despite Dom insisting that it's, in fact, "Not gonna happen".

For some reason I never could get a grip on what exactly the missile shot was until now. Then there's Letty's "DOhHhMMM", which for some reason sounds wooden enough to where I mistook it for a "NOOOOOOO" for a while.

Anyways, I was always indifferent to Supercharged at most, but I absolutely agree that the story bits being phased out are what lessened its appeal. Nowadays, the video with Hobbs cutting into Novak's video rarely gets played, and I actually did like it when it is, since that was the one thing I did like about the presentation.

As for if there's one thing I will miss about Supercharged, it's gonna be The Rock saying "It is now, stink-pickle!" from that pre-ride video that rarely gets played. It's so hilarious how such dialogue being in a family friendly park means they gotta use TV Version writing when PG dialogue won't cut it.

It was very unserious but the thing is, i thought they did a decent job integrating the story into the tram Tour.

I just wanna say it is 9 days till this experience dies and I think that is a wonderful thing.
____________

I wonder how quick the detheming process will be for the showbuilding. Doubt we’ll see much of the work inside, but I wonder if that might be different on the external.

I absolutely do agree with that, so credit where credit is due. In spite of my criticism, I don't hate the ride. I just feel like it's kind of "there" and apathy really tends to be the death knell for a ride.

If a ride is just kind of "there" and doesn't have a good reputation or a long wait, it's probably past its time to be replaced, and Supercharged exemplifies this. The fact that USF can't fill that ride's capacity in a park that is really lacking in rides speaks volumes, and in USH, if Supercharged wasn't on the tram tour, I doubt many people would go out of their way to ride it, unless the park was absurdly crowded.

At the end of the day, as long as we get a decent replacement, I'll be happy. I'm not openly cheering its demise, but this isn't a 50 year old classic with timeless appeal that ages gracefully; it's just a fast food burger of a ride and that time is over. I'm OK with it moving on so we can get something better.

Went to the park (at 6:01 p.m.!) last night for a few hours -- did the Tour. Aside from the fact I still can't wrap my head around the fact this opened almost a decade ago, it was interesting seeing my entire tram cheering and whooping and clapping during this; even when the tour guide announced that we were some of the last people to ever get to experience it, a number of people expressed disappointment that it was closing. So even if it flopped amongst those of us diehards, it still works for a number of people whose bars aren't set higher than "average."

That said, good riddance -- can't wait to see what comes next, especially because it feels like Universal knows they can't just sit back and deliver something subpar like this again. Gonna be fun, as usual, watching a new project rise from the ashes and take shape over the next few years!

Agreed. Hopefully, this signals the end of having full-screen rides, and they will be replaced with something worthy. My hope is that Twisters will replace it and be the same practical attraction as the original Twister ride at USF.

I like the idea of a Twister(s) comeback, but I think that should be a standalone attraction. Something like Danse Macabre at Efteling would make a great ride system for something like that.

The only thing is that there are already two attractions on the Tram that are themed to natural disasters, so I think a little more “variety” would be preferable.

If they HAVE to keep the speed tunnel (Which I hope they don’t) then I think BTTF would be the best choice for a reskin. The preferable choice in my book would be to make a fully fleshed-out Skull Island experience and tear down 360. We can also get the collapsing bridge back and get rid of 3D on the tour. “I see this as an absolute WIN!”
