Life has been busy since getting home from our Epic opening trip so I've got behind on the progress of the UK park and would like to catch up.

I can see there are already quite a few YouTube channels doing update videos - is there a consensus re which is best?

This forum seems pretty good to me. Doesn’t have endless clickbait, and the speculation seems rooted in the realm of the possible rather than simply wish-fulfillment. And starting from the headline-making initial reports by @Alicia, the forum seems quick off the mark with genuine news. When serious construction starts on site the local drone flyers (such as @ProjectUniversal and @masekwm) will probably be required viewing, but until then this forum is my first port of entry for UK news.

I have questions about Badgers now.

Like did they just pick that corner or are there badger tunnels near there already?

I appreciate it’s confidential of course.

Pretty certain it’s possible to cross the train line just north of there to get to the public footpath.

Brickdust on YouTube did a video quite a while ago and walked that route I think.

Unfortunately that information is confidential, but I can tell you everywhere they found otter poop.

They got their West Coast mainline bid rejected recently

That’s because there’s no capacity left on the southern part of the west coast mainline. That’s the whole reason behind building HS2! (They’ll eventually have to build the northern halves as all they’re going to do is make the northern part of the west coast main line even busier and take it beyond capacity).

There’s loads of spare capacity in the Channel Tunnel and HS1 for other operators to use.

Indeed! Every day is a school day. Top marks for use of an obscure word.

Thanks Rob, Project Universal is far more prolific than I am on the site - I can't get there in the week but with construction running to 7pm, there will be proper updates when the site gets busy.

I have had word that the current residents are complaining to the police that they are being harassed by the drone flights and there is a PCSO looking into it under anti-social behaviour laws.

Make the most of the drone footage right now. It won't be around forever when the TFR kicks in

@ProjectUniversal actually did a test of how far the camera on his drone could realistically view without going over Universal's land. It looked pretty good even when viewing the completely opposite side of the drone's location. So whilst some drone operators might fall by the wayside I don't foresee drone footage disappearing unless the TFR also covers the land surounding the Universal plots.

Well, it would be sensible to include a fairly decent margin around the site. Most of the drone videos aren't even very good so I'll take everyone staying safe on site over footage. But by January 2028 they could well own the land west of the park, if they haven't purchased already, so it must have a good lens of it can see from Wixams

Funnily enough he actually zoomed in on the Wixams Station spot from the far-end of the Core Zone and you were able to actually see stuff. Sure it was blurry and much lower quality but it wasn't unviewable.
