Apparently the LK land has hit a snag in development. A WDWMagic poster relayed a discussion on a French forum as well as X that states:

A rumour suggests that the application for the Lion King land building permits at WDS Paris is delayed due to budget cuts, including potentially a shorter ride, fewer animatronics and more screens, changes to the ride-system, etc. Some believe nothing is final, while others worry the cuts are more severe than usual. The main issue seems to be that ambitions don’t match the budget that the US mothership wants to grant.

Go figure. Paris always gets the short stick for funding.

so... the normal development cycle for any other attraction?

Always expected for any project to be reduced in scope from Imagineering to the actual build. As long as it keeps getting pushed forward, we should be fine lol

A user on WDWMagic just corrected the record with this statement:

No budget cut.
According to insiders, Disney does not want to allocate more budget than what was already planned in the expansion plan, and the initial vision for the ride did not fit within this budget (~€ 40 Million in excess). Ultimately, DLP was able to secure a bit more money, but Disney will not give more. A budget cut is when a project is about to be funded, and at the last minute, Disney revises the proposed budget downwards compared to what had been promised.

The final version of the ride has been greenlit last week, they can now move foward.

To be fair, there are mostly positive reactions, but the longtime posters there seem perennially unhappy or 'concerned'.

If Avengers and Avatar are clones of Peter Pan and Shanghai Pirates, then that would be three miracles.

Yes. For some reason, four minutes, has been the get go time adopted for most rides.

I've thought about this for awhile. The balance between "time spent anticipating VS time spent experiencing". At least if someone waits years for a game, or an album, movie, show, etc., it is usually at least an hour long in length haha.

It certainly speaks to the exhiliration and intensity of the medium at it's best that all of us are here speculating for literal years about experiences that will take less time to experience than it took me to write out this post haha. Definitely a unique element of theme park fandom.

Myself, I'd rather have the longer attractions like the Great Movie Ride as an example. But the fast paced high tech social /cultural environment we now have, puts the premium on short, action filled, experiences. Unfortunately people don't take the time to relax, daydream a bit, and slow down. Smartphones have conditioned people to avoid a slower paced lifestyle in almost all applications. Its now instant gratification, with no pause or delay.
