That wouldn't surprise me though. I've not had many positive thoughts/comments about LC since they shut down PF a few years back. Most
everyone expected a quick turnover but I continually expressed my doubts. I kind of got roasted for my attitude on that back then. One of
those , I wish I was wrong, but I don't think so. :lmao:

It’s only an island, if you look at it from the water…

If Universal goes down the path of demoing LC for the future but just letting it sit, fine by me. USF can get more resources put into it beyond the F&F coaster and possible Supercharged reskin

Lost Continent has really become the Lost Continent of Atlantis. Destroyed, deserted, just a legend. :( Sindbad and PF
failures were more the result of poorly written, overly corny, dialogue than anything else. Better writing may have produced
better long term results. Even with the terrible scripts, though, I still liked the atmosphere and feel of the two attractions, but
unfortunately the GP didn't.

Where did One Piece as a rumor come from? I'm in the same boat (no pun intended) as you with it as a perfect fit for IOA. I just hadn't heard that before today.

I think sometime in July, the one "THIS IS EPIC" guy mentioned hearing the rumor from a universal marketing source. No clue what the truth is to it, but it honestly makes sense for the park. Fits the literary theme, hits into an area they haven't before with manga/anime, and could probably reuse some elements from Lost Continent.

I know people will probably think the demographic is much smaller with One Piece, but its a top 25 media IP in terms of revenue. Even higher than Lord of the Rings, Transformers, James Bond, etc. Still growing as well with the new live action show.

Bad choice of a name in the long run I guess.

As for One Piece, I know how popular it is, but if I were to pick an anime I would have gone with Dragon Ball.

I confess I never experienced the OG Poseidon which was clearly better off the disappearing room effect working as intended alone.

But it was still a criminally underrated attraction.

To the point of Zelda, I’ll never forget a Taylor saying the water vortex tunnel looked like something out of Zelda. This was after rumors started circulating on here (late 2010s), so at the time I was thinking he was dropping a hint (though it was probs just a coincidence).

Right heres my thoughts after trawling through the last few days posts, I may or may not being sarcastic in places, I am British, and thats what we do.

1. I've never heard of One Piece until today, not much broad appeal there then, so thats not happening, IMO.
2. A Land of Oz featuring Wicked and other L Frank Baum properties I most definitely have heard of, and I think would be a great fit, add to that potential for a really great ride to take away some of the demand for Hagrids, that could happen, IMO.
3.Pokemon, nah.
4.Waterworld, you're avin a giraffe!
5.Zelda, could be.
6.Flash Gordon, I love it, one of my favourite films of all time, killer soundtrack, fantastic worlds, full of colour, best thing ever, its definitely happening.
7.Brian Blessed is still alive, see number 6.
8. What do I know? I'm one of those wierdos that enjoys FF Supercharged (So bad its good)
9. My love for Flash Gordon is genuine.

I know you said some of this was sarcastic which I'm sure a lot of it was, but responding to 1) as if you're serious...

I'm torn on whether an IP having "broad appeal" is as important as having dedicated fans and capturing a niche market.

Let's say the people who know of Oz, for example, would have went to Universal parks regardless of whether they had Oz or not. Your ROI for bringing in Oz might actually turn out to be low, since you've brought in no new dollars. But let's say the dedicated One Piece fans make a special trip out to Universal just for that IP (and no one is cancelling their plans because the IP was brought in), your ROI might actually be pretty high.

These are just made up examples, but it's something Universal is researching. Obviously the sweet spot IPs would be ones that have broad recognition/appeal *and* dedicated fans, like Nintendo and Potter, but sometimes it's not feasible to get those IPs.

I didn't know that was the requirement...for you specifically to be familiar with it.

I'm fairly certain it is, but if its not, it should be. See no 6.

Universal has been fairly tepid with anime in the US. Even in Japan, anime is limited to its seasonal events. I cannot imagine a scenario where Universal decides its first permanent anime installation is a full land in Florida before Japan sees a permanent ride.

Based on (long-)standing rumors, the main candidates in my head are:

- Legend of Zelda
- Wicked
- Pokemon
- Rankin/Bass Christmas Island/Grinch expansion (I’m going back a few years)

Other long shot considerations if I’m having fun:

- WaterWorld
- Happily Ever After/Shrek Land
- Jaws (why not?)
- Simpsons (I’m choosing chaos)

I don’t see Lord of the Rings as a viable property for this tiny spit of land. Honestly, based on other things I’m hearing, I don’t think Zelda or Wicked fit here either. What I WANT is Rankin/Bass because it just be so unexpected and fun. The realistic option(s) are actually Pokemon and Happily Ever After.

I’m just glad the rumor mill is back. We’ve been so spoiled with Epic and knowing what Epic will be, it feels like a wild since we have pure speculation. All very exciting!

Its been fascinating reading all the different theories, and I've said before on this forum I think that area would look so cool with a yellow brick road running through it surrounded by emerald green.
