I have a hard time believing they would have built the swamp when they were just going to build a full fledged SHREK land 10 ft away. I know we’re just spitballing, but it’s certainly one of the most far fetched spitballs out there.

I'm all for more Shrek representation in the parks, but Far Far Away doesn't seem like it would be a particularly interesting area to explore. One of the main jokes in Shrek 2 was that it was more or less just a modern city with a medieval backdrop. It doesn't really have many noteworthy landmarks beyond the castle and the Poison Apple tavern.

I feel like finding a way to add a proper Shrek attraction to the existing DreamWorks Land would be the better move.

Hi, it’s me, a millennial.

I wouldn’t book a trip to universal because of a Shrek land. I’d be happy with it being there if it’s well themed. And even happier if the ride were great.

The question wasn’t would anyone be more intrigued. The question was what do you gain by an entire land that they aren’t getting already? And particularly what are they getting more than they’d get over another IP that doesn’t have a presence in the parks currently?

LOTR? Pokémon? Oz? Even Zelda? Sure. Shrek isn’t at that level.

If it’s marketable, sure.

I, personally, don’t care what IP goes there so long as the attraction is great and the theming is excellent. But let’s discuss the tangibles. Because to me, Shrek taking over sounds redundant.

Merch sales- how much more can they sell with a dedicated shrek land vs what’s in store now?
Food/beverage- what other items are they having that they don’t currently have at Swamp snacks
Attraction- who is the person who is going to book a trip to universal because a new shrek ride opened up?

Sell the idea like I’m the president of universal parks and resorts and convince me how it would make an attendance boost or financial sense over a different IP. Because that’s what UC would have to do.

actually those are great points some that I didn't think about,
from my own family I can't think of anyone that would come to see Shrek right away, ( on obviously people would want to check the new attractions just as curiosity) or buy anything new. not even from the new movie.

but wicked, let's say? I can see my aunt and her daughters making a trip specifically for it. they would definitely buy stuff. I could definitely see them buying souvenirs for the occasion. they would tell people about their trip.

So you speak for everyone? :p I feel like the few of you in here who admit you don't like Shrek are just dismissing all rational points. Shrek may not be something like Potter or Nintendo that families book vacations for, but it's certainly a multi-generational crowd pleaser that people recognize and will enjoy. It's got potty humor for the little kids to enjoy and adult jokes hidden throughout that adults will catch onto as well.

Merch/Food - Tons of gag food and products with tons of options straight from the film. Farbucks, Ye Old Foot Locker, Burger Prince, Baskin Robin Hood, etc. Endless options for any retail or food place they want.

See, I feel like that makes it the perfect addition. The city of FFA was a commentary on modern Hollywood. Even looking like Hollywood Blvd lined with palm trees and retail stores. It could be a tongue in cheek commentary on Hollywood full of gags and commentary on (Disney?) fairy tales, just like Springfield is a tongue in cheek commentary on theme parks and consumerism. Springfield/Animal Actors isn't a ton of space so one attraction, the different retail/food and a small bar like what's there now is about all they'd need.

Far Far Away is canonically located far from Shrek's Swamp. The trek to get there is half the plot of the first film. I'm not even more than a casual Shrek fan but I see how prominent it is even today and how ripe it is for a more fleshed out land.

The comment has nothing to do with its potential, but everything to do with reality.

You’re talking about a satirical land modeled after Hollywood with an actual Hollywood boulevard one ogre away. Add to that, the swamp being located half a donkey’s *** away. What ogre god up in the blue sky would say, “this is a great idea and would sell oodles of tickets”? I mean, sure shrek is love and life and all that…but yall. Come on..they’ve got more profitable, streamlined properties to use.
