After some back-and-forth over the years, I'm now of the opinion that even if Star Tours isn't kept around long-term, then the ride system should be retained basically forever. It's just an incredibly engaging and fun simulator system with lots of potential movement profiles, and that they can also reprogram and refresh incredibly simply and whenever they feel like it. Neither Falcon or any of their new simulators actually replicate the pure fun of Star Tours' motion effects and 3D visuals imo.

If we can't keep Star Tours, at least give us a Big Hero Six ride for the Japan pavilion, or something like that with the same ride system. I know they're ancient rides, but they're just really solid and work great as those simple 25 minute wait diversion attractions between E-tickets and dining.

At this point in time, we enjoy Star Tours much more than Millenium Falcon. The diversity of the films playing, keep it interesting,
and it's very entertaining. Star Tours shouts out Star Wars to me more than GESWL. Millenium Falcon got old real quick. Perhaps
the new missions next year will help. Plus , if you're not a pilot, the ride gets a bit boring after repeat visits....
I'm never bored with Star Tours, plus it plays the 'right' music.

Star Tours isn’t inherently thrilling compared to some other newer simulators, but the fact you can ride it several times in a day and get mostly different ride experiences is something to be cherished. For that reason alone, I’d want them to keep it until the wheels fall completely off.

I remember when it re-opened with like 3 first acts and 3 final acts and I thought it was mind blowing. I love the fact that they built upon the different planet visits and timelines as new movies and shows came out, but didn’t do each as a one off limited engagement to promote the release and kept them permanent. It feels like a project that kept getting bigger as time went on and now it’s a tapestry.

At the very least, if you’re going to replace it with another property, keep the variation component so it’s not a one and done each trip to the park.

100% agree. Plus, it's the 1 thing you can ride at DHS without a considerable wait at any given time.

I'd argue that Star Tours is actually substantially more thrilling compared to newer sims. Feeling the Banshees breathe or getting to control the guns of the Falcon are really cool elements of theming; but in the end, a quality of a theme park thrill attraction can really boil down to the monkey brain adrenaline rush moments, and Star Tours just tosses you around haha.

It's the same as the conversation we had recently regarding Gringotts VS Ministry. No matter how technically impressive Ministry is, Gringotts has the coaster drop and launch, which are just going to be immeasurably more immersive and engaging than any amount of set dressing or gamification. Sometimes you don't need to overthink it. Those classic thrill ride styles are still being built for a reason: they work!

Last time I was at at DHS Star Tours I managed to ride it 20 times, in a row just kept looping round till the queue got too busy.

Certainly doesn’t hurt that the ride is a capacity monster if all six bays are running. One of my happiest early WDW memories was looping Star Tours 1.0 with no waits. At one point, Darth Vader appeared at the bay assignment point to menace guests.

This is such a great ride. And the GE setting right next door kinda screws it up.

If I remember correctly, this is the ride where Lucas told Spielberg something to the effect of, "Universal could never do this."

Then it was on.

Ha! Was this the butterfly effect that created screen alley? :lmao: :lmao:
