It's quite a bit more complicated than that. Assuming they wanted the narration to match, they would need the consent of the original voiceover artist. This also assumes there's enough training data from the voiceover artist to produce a sufficient match. At that point... why not just hire the voiceover artist to record the new lines?

If they were to change scenes to the point where new narration was required, I imagine they'd just hire a new voiceover artist and rerecord the whole thing.

You know they’re going to try to not have those in the future. Voiceover actors or agents are going to have to make sure to check every line in their new contracts.

Existing/legacy voiceover contracts obviously won't address generative AI, but my understanding is the standard practice (at least amongst large conglomerates like Universal) is to err on the side of caution and not attempt to steal someone's voice. These companies don't want their own film and television works to be used for training data without their authorization, and that goes both ways.

I know quite a few people in the V/O industry, and guardrails are absolutely going into new contracts.

Just checked and had no idea he died in 1999!?! They couldn’t have updated the voice over even the year the ride opened in Orlando if they wanted to.

Fun fact: In the book Hammond says the voice of the tour is Richard Kiley, spared no expense. Spielberg was able to actually get him to narrate the tour in the movie AND the real life theme park ride, so the line could stay the same.

And it’s cause of that fun fact they can never update it.

Yes, fabulous voice. I have the Ed Sullivan Broadway DVD that has Kiley's rendition of the Impossible Dream from Man of La Mancha original Broadway run. I've listened to that dozens of times and its absolutely spell binding. What a talented singer/actor. Broadway actors are the top tier actors.
