Something I have been wondering, we all think that where the T-Rex photo opp is will be the entrance to Kong, but could it not be possible that the entrance will be closer to Toon lagoon? I saw the picture of how that delivery/bus loop is now gone, could that not be where the entrance will be?

Nope but all signs are pointing towards it, it's planned to come out sometime in 2015 too

Silly people. This isn't Kong. Everything at IOA is based off of literature. And Uni LOVES popular book franchises, right? So this is obviously going to be Forks, WA. FTW!

The original Kong was popular as was Jaws. The issue with MIB's future isn't based on how good the attraction is, but it sits on an area that is prime for expansion. This is just a hypothetical, but what if Universal grabbed LOTR rights today and decided to build a new land in USF? MIB and that whole mystery plot is the likely place for it and the ride will become history.

I personally hope the ride stays, but of all major Universal rides it clearly has the best chance of becoming the next Kong/BTTF/Jaws.

Kong and Jaws were expensive to operate and unreliable. MIB isn't.

That isn't the point I'm trying to make. Point is, MIB sits right in front of a huge plot of land to expand on and create a better experience for the park. Plus, MIB merchandise isn't overly popular in the park. Whenever you go in the Universal Studios Store I see almost nothing in there representing MIB. It's all Potter, Simpsons, Marvel, minions, Transformers, etc. and we all know IPs with a huge food and/or merchandising draw is what Universal is looking with the success of Potter and Springfield. I'm MIB is a goner for sure, but I can see it getting the boot before any other ride in USF does, including ET.

If Middle Earth goes anywhere, it should be as the anchor of a 3rd gate... Middle Earth would just look awkward next to the urban locales of USF. IOA doesn't have the space to do LOTR justice. Plus, it would give the 3rd gate a huge IP and something to market itself on.

But MIB is at the bottom of USF concerns (from worst to best attraction):

1. Fear Factor Live
2. Twister
3. Shrek 4D
4. the whole KidZone area aside from E.T. and Curious George (sad to see the monkey is leaving this fall)
5. Animal Actors
6. T2 3D
7. Disaster (everything after is fine or just needs a refurb/update)
8. Blues Brothers
9. Rip Ride Rockit
10. E.T.
11. Springfield area
12. Mummy
13. MIB
14. Transformers
15. HE
16. Gringotts

Horror Makeup Show and Lucy are fine as well... but MIB is easily a top 5 attraction at USF. 14 years and it's still the best ride of its type by a mile. It has AAs and full-scale sets which is a rarity in Universal rides today, and gives it a unique hook. Not only that but a sci-fi land could easily be implemented using Fear Factor and the mystery plot. Middle Earth wouldn't mesh well with the rest of the park (especially Springfield and KidZone if it connects to those areas of the park ) but I'd definitely like to see LOTR introduced either in the 3rd gate or as a Toon Lagoon replacement.

Again, attraction quality has NEVER been a part of the reason people have discussed MIB's future. Bottom line is it's a ride based on an IP that isn't a draw that is sitting on nice expansion land. The chances it goes before any other major USF ride is pretty damn solid.

They have a nice expansion plot right next to it. They don't need it.

Exactly, I also think shrek is far from closing aswell. We are looking way too far into the future here. None of these rides will close atleast until the end of the decade

True. I guess if they have enough room, an attraction based on the new Jurassic World movie would be acceptable.

The expansion pad next to it holds 1.5 Diagon Alleys. Fear Factor is next to it. And a sci-fi area would allow it to stay. No reason for it to leave unless the mystery plot isn't sci-fi. Even then, Universal has worse attractions that need replacement

But back to Kong!

^True, but it itself is a pretty immersive ride on its own. Im of the opinion that youre allowed some liberties in a theme park, and World Expo is kind of a neat theme however misplaced. However, if they absolutely had to do something to the area, I would think it would be better for them to build around MIB. Its interactive, family-friendly, and doesnt have any 3-D! It would be a big loss IMO.

Tyler i COMPLETELY agree with you, I love the ride and I think its hands down a top attraction at USO, however, it depends on what management wants to do, I would love to see them bring in pacific rim, star trek and promethus and have a furturistic world within that area, Or even change it to a Godzilla ride where its a godzilla shooter and you have to shoot the Mutos. however, I just feel with the direction they are taking, it will be gone in years to come, no more than a decade.

Omg yes, lets not even go into efficiencies here. They were both bad, but at the same time both terrific.

You're way off with your list lately!

Twister, Shrek, FFL and animal actors, disaster are towards the bottom of the list due to their ability to eat up large crowds, this helps the flow of people into better rides and keep the masses at bay. Why do you think Animal Actors isnt closing now that Kidzone is getting a revamp?!

Quality wise, no. MIB far surpasses all of those. Pacific Rim and Prometheus aren't getting attractions anywhere. Godzilla has a shot, but the new film was fairly frontloaded.

But for Kong, I'm excited to see what's in store for the Thunder Falls plot! Hoping the screens aren't most of the ride
