So..here's a question. I'm curious to what some of you would have rather seen happen with this Fast and Furious land than the attraction that is coming to us.
See I thought about it and think Universal made a decision that made sense financially and logistically to put this attraction right where it's going.

I understand that people don't like screens, but we have no idea if this ride will have limited practical sets mixed or not. It could be a decent mix like Kong will be.

Also, screens are the only way to make this ride really work IMO, it's using real actors compared to cartoons like Disney.

Even though it's using actors and not cartoons, if the people are inside cars and moving about, you could get away with so much before people realise how fake they looked.

Ideally, the whole San Francisco area would be remodelled to reflect the ride as as far as I can remember, they never go there in any of the movies and it seems like it's easier to send them there than to change the area about the ride.

Ideally, I'd like something similar to Test Track with a good bit of speed built in. As big as that plot of land is though, you're never going to get up to anything above 40mph. The only possible way would be to have a stretch of track that extends out over the car park to the west of the land and have it move above or below the HE track. You'd obviously have to keep the track covered as to not waste the illusion plus you'd get the benefit of being able to run the ride without the weather affecting it. They could explain the covered track by saying you're in a tunnel or something.

Weirdly, Test Track fits perfectly into the area.

I can see how the coaster idea lends itself to the IP but if Universal add another coaster, I want it to be something that they don't already have like a wing coaster or a RMC and none of them would make sense.

What I would rather see in San Francisco than Fast and Furious? Quite simple really.

Maybe we'll actually go to his home of Monster Island in the third park like how they're doing King Kong.

I can only hope since legendary has the film rights, but I'm not sure where Toho falls in when it comes to theme parks.

They could have easily done this with a ride system similar to gringotts. Theme the cars to street race cars. They could have track portions, slow portions, have the car rotate as it goes around corners to replicate drifting, rapid acceleration portions. Capacity may not have been as good as the tram idea, but it could have been close to the same ride they are going to build, but given a better experience, IMO.

I know the Screen debate can be tiresome for some, but please... let's choose the words carefully next time and be a little more friendlier about it.

Well there you go. Let's just go this route instead of a tram.

I don't care what anybody says...nothing about this attraction is going to make me happy unless there's some speed involved....and I'm not talking simulated speed.

Oh trust me I'm prepared.

At least Kong will still be pretty new and we'll have an awesome new water park to celebrate...and hopefully better attractions coming after this and Fallon.
(Sorry, but 2017 just seems like a 'filler' year at USF...no matter how much they spend on the two attractions.)

That's kind of the way I'm looking at 2017, too. There's just nothing coming that interests me, either in the parks or the resort as a whole. But I can actually kind of live with that up to a point; Universal doesn't owe me mega attractions that are specifically to my liking every year.

Still, would I prefer Fallon and F&F were different concepts, themes, and IPs? Yes. Do I think they'll diminish the variety of USF's attraction roster? Absolutely, but I'm just fan with particular tastes, and I'm probably not terribly representative of Universal's fanbase as a whole.

I'll take a "filler" year with 2 new attractions that replaced things most people didn't like any day of the week.

I think ignoring Volcano Bay is kind of a shame. The 3 bigger water parks in Orlando are 3 of the best parks in the town as-is, and VB should be better.

The reason this thread gets so off track is because there's nothing visible for us to talk about so we end up going down a tunnel that leads us way OT.

I think most everyone is in the "Denial Stage" with F&F and are avoiding talking about it. We may need to bring a psychologist on the thread to get discussions rolling fast & furious again.

To be fair, I thought this was the VB thread.

Anyway, to get back to the topic at hand. Where do we think the entrance is going to go?

I think the old Disaster entrance seems like the logical place but the entrance to Beetlejuice might create a bigger spectacle.
