Ironically I think the best theme park website design is Jurassic World everything is laid out perfectly. Planning information is all on the right and everything is pretty easy to find. Then on the left is all the current information (wait times, weather etc.). Clicking the buttons on the top left or right quickly brings back up those navigational menus.

That is oddly very true. If UOR adopted a similar format the website would improve exponentially. The only problem is UOR has a lot more info to present than JW.

Well I think the framework could easily support more. It would just allow you to dive into the information more and still easily find your way back. Getting back to HHN it would certainly make it easier to incorporate the event websites into the regular site. At this point HHN feels like a completely different site (because it is). You should be able to see everything all in one place. They did a pretty good job with this for HHN 25 with the app as all the event info was in there.

Well, it always has been separate...if anything the HHN site has become easier to navigate in the last few years, simple...Back in the day the site would change and update constantly..

That's because we had a backstories to the houses and a theme for the event... those days are now part of the past (Like icons)

Well... I can tell you one thing that is pretty lame about the website/vacation package offer. I would have done a package if they actually allowed me to build my vacation the way I wanted. I can obviously choose the proper dates and hotel without any issue (other than it taking a full minute to load), but the current HHN offerings aren't what I need. They don't have the Rush of Fear option or Express which is mandatory for my stay. What is a single night admission ticket going to do for me, other than help me get in 1 night to wait in a line? What I find even more ridiculous is that they aren't offering the proper ticketing options, yet, they are offering Unmasking the Horror tours to those buying these packages now. I didn't think the UTH tours were available for booking until late summer. So they have the sense to realize, gee, maybe these people staying here want to go to Horror Nights and possibly even splurge on a tour, but we won't offer all the ticket options yet. All I know is that I better not get hosed out of a tour because some rando vacationer, who could care less about the event, decides he wants to blow a few extra bucks and do something during the daytime.

I heard the reason for the early announcements were because of Kongs opening and not wanting to take away its spotlight. Waiting until Kong was open to make the first announcement, would make fans flip out (it would be around July). So I guess don't expect any more announcements until Kong is done with. Meh figures

If UTH sells out before tickets go on sale to the public, I will be calling and emailing every single person that I can find to complain to about it. That's the number one thing that I look forward to when I go to Universal every October and it might make me reconsider the $3-5k that I spend at Universal (including hotel) every year.

It never truly sells out. They just add more tours. Took 3 tries to get the day I needed last year (friend in from out of town), but managed to get it.

I could be wrong, but I don't remember them offering the tours this early with their packages though. Additionally, it does say this right on their website...

"HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS® UNMASKING THE HORROR TOUR

Get a daytime glimpse of how Universal Orlando's Art & Design team transforms the biggest names in horror into haunted houses on a lights-on VIP tour.
ADD TO YOUR VACATION PACKAGE BEFORE THEY SELL OUT"

The Saturday during the weekend I'm planning on being there is apparently already blocked out and we're in May. They may add more tours as they sell out, but it's not like that number can be infinite. I suppose what really should happen is I should just call them and demand to be allowed to spend my money to book it now. I'm already staying at their new hotel/resort, so why should they stop me?

If the moderator wishes to move my 2 posts regarding this issue over to the other thread, then so be it. I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I'm done now.

Edit Update...
I called Universal and explained how I wanted to make a reservation for the tour and was told that only people purchasing packages were allowed this privilege. Apparently, it doesn't matter that I already have a room booked with them. In my opinion, this is certainly not a good way to conduct business. If I wasn't such a fan of the tour, I'd just skip it and keep my $ out of principle.

They did it last year. When more options present itself on the site and they add the full ticket prices & the like, they open up more dates.

Since the chat seems to have died down a bit here, I'll bring this one up.

Over on the Horror Nights Nightmares board there's been some chat about a Harry Potter house that was heavily implied.

Now, normally I would think that there would be no chance of this happening with J.K. being as protective of her characters as she is.

But, everyone said the same thing about Diagon being open last year as well...and we see what happened there.

Maybe last year was a trial to see how rowdy the crowds would get, and to show J.K. that can treat her world with respect.

An off-the-wall thought...maybe we could see a "horror overlay" to Escape from Gringots, similar to what Disney did with the Christmas Haunted Mansion in the past?

Not gonna happen, it's just one of those lingering tumors of a rumor that keeps coming back due to fan want. Just like the dreaded treehouse of horror talk

There's a big difference between having the area open with no association or connection to HHN to having it a part of the event. It's not happening.

It won't happen, for many reasons. Some that was said greatly by @Cole and @BriMan.

That's real-er than you imagine. But no, no Potter HHN. Period. End of question. Not a CHANCE it will be a house or scare zone.

I think the big factor with doing HHN overlays for Simpsons, Pottrer or any other is more an issue of resources. With the he event having expanded so much I think they really have to focus solely on houses, shows and scare zones. I think they really don't have enough time and resources to devote to anything else.

I think having the potter area open during horror nights can be a great escape from the crowds. Last year was awesome to have no line for EFG. The potter zone already has that gothic\halloweenish feel....no need to make it actual part of the event. Just leave it be and it serves it's purpose. Potter and horror are 2 worlds very far apart.

Sigh... Please don't confuse speculation with rumor. Just because I'm calling a house "Shall Not Be Named," that doesn't mean it's Harry Potter. It's not Harry Potter. It's something else that I have considered Shall Not Be Named.

I'm letting them swim in the discussion over there because I'm enjoying the show.
