Well, no, it's a full fledged attraction that also happens to provide transportation. Personally, it's my favorite out of the three major Harry Potter attractions, and probably my third favorite in the resort overall behind Men in Black and Spiderman.

I agree. Gotta love HE as an attraction (actually two attractions). One of my favs in the park & great for repeat rides. Before HE I rarely park hopped, now I do it a couple of times a day.Fun & authentic. When that train pulls into the station, I still get a chill up my back. The show with the screen & the projections on the cabin door is excellent. And the two train stations are outstanding. ...And, it's proved to be one of the largest income generators ever. Now, almost everyone buys a park hopper so they can experience this attraction and move easily through the parks in an entertaining manner. A stroke of pure genius.....One of the greatest "family" attractions. And adults can drink on it, to boot. What a fabulous innovative combination. :)

Plus it's the only ride you can have a BEER on!

Part of what really does it for me in a theme park attraction is how well it convinces you you're actually in that world it's representing, and there is perhaps no moment more convincing to me than when you are standing there on Platform 9 3/4 in King's Cross when the train pulls in, especially after dark. The illusion is just so utterly complete, it's fantastic.

I know no one asked me, but I've been on it many times and I don't care for it at all, even as a potter fan. The best part is the queue/station. The "ride" is like a wet fart.

Plus the line is normally far too long for my liking as well.

I understand people who are really in to Potter liking it (although I consider myself in that group), but it's still extremely unsatisfying to me.

If the train is ever more than a 30 minute wait, I always encourage guests to just take the 15 minute walk to the other park.

It's a great experience for Potter fans, not so much for people who are trying to cram as much as possible in their 1-day 2-park visit.

On top of these reasons, I also love getting on the HE and watching people ride for the first time. Brings me back to the first time I experienced it, a memory I'll always have.

I don't really care much for it as a ride either and like Sheikra38 see it as a means of transportation. It never feels real to me, I mean obviously in every ride that uses screens you always know you watch a screen, but I find it too blatantly obvious in HE, to me it really just feels like watching a video on a train ride. The whole wall illusion thing in the London station is a let down as well. Still I do go on HE a lot, because I do find it enjoyable as transportation.

Good so you know it's not "merely a transportation system". :)

Just because you personally may not find any value in the attraction beyond just getting you from point A to point B, doesn't mean it's not an actual ride that holds its own against all of the others in the park. I personally certainly find it a million times better than silly freaking little Flight of the Hippogriff. So does my six-year-old niece.

HE is both a family ride AND a transportation system... but that's also a problem with it being one of the few family rides in Universal. For example, my mom gets motion sick on rides that spin/go fast/etc., so she basically can't do anything at Islands of Adventure... except for the ride that's also a transportation system that takes her to another park, where she also can't do much besides E.T. and Despicable Me. When one of your only family-friendly rides is something that takes you back and forth between two distant points, that's a problem.

With thinking through about it, I have more of what I would personally want to see out of a Forbidden Forest expansion..

HxzhtNB.jpg

To list:

Light grey: area path
Grey: Backstage path
Light green: Foilage/trees
Magenta: Outdoor portions of the E-Ticket attraction
Hot-rod red: Showbuilding of the E-Ticket attraction
Brick red: Half of the Great Hall showbuilding
Light Blue:Main portion of the Great Hall showbuilding
Orange: Pre show's
Muted blue:post show
Purple: Rock work/mountain for Forbidden forest
Indigo: Great Hall exit-shop
Pink: Holding Area/reservation area
Holiday Green: Passageway's for the pre shows to the main building (similar design to those from Deathly Hallows 2)
Light brown: Gift shop for E-Ticket
Yellow: Relocated stage
Mute yellow: Storage area for props of the show's

To explain the Great Hall and the E-Ticket..

Great Hall

To explain why I placed the entrance/exits of the Great Hall away from Hogwarts is very simple and in a few ways..

A.) In Deathly Hallows part two, it is showcased in a scene that there were at a time before Deathly Hallows multiple passageway's that led from Hogsmeade to Hogwarts. It can be purely explained as simply put, they needed to find a way to bring people to Hogwarts with more ease without going to the castle itself from the FJ entrance; so, they use the passageway's to allow them to travel to the castle with not that many issues

B.) It'd be a situation like Carkitt Market. They simply would need to just have the entrance to the dining experience without having it all at one situated location; and that it could potentially add a bit more little lore to the Wizarding world in a sense of adding more to the Forbidden Forest; just like how the Market has done that for Diagon Alley.

As for the experience, I'd say it'd be like a dinner-experience on the vein of a Dinner theater experience with various acts exclusive to the experience as apart of it; allowing changes for various periods of the year (Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day, E.T.C.) while offering somewhat of a higher quality of meals and drinks that are all inclusive to the experience when reserved to divulge in. It'd be a high end experience that would be a one-of-a-kind type offering that Universal Orlando can pull off for the park.

The Dark Forest E-Ticket

This one, is more easier for me than anything.

It'd feature a high-octane indoor/outdoor thrill-coaster with the ride vehicles being based off of Ford Angelica's with it being an attraction that is on the scale of thrill similar to Big Grizzly Mountain and Expedition Everest with interactions with the area surrounding it along with it being a mixture of a terrain coaster (artificially) and an inversion coaster that has multiple launches throughout.

It'd be either a Mack Mega coaster with custom trains, a Gerstlauer Family coaster (in the track and trains) or something similar to what Vekoma has done at Disney.

It'd also be a coaster that reuses concepts unused from the Japanese Dark Forest concept that was canceled with new features along the way from it, culminating in a brand new E-Ticket attraction for the area.

__

While this isn't my best, it's a quick one that I wanted to bring out..

I would prefer Gerstlauer instead of Mack. Helix in Europe is a great multi-launch coaster. Blend the accelerating part as well as an easy dark ride powered section together.
