A lot of talk in the Potter thread about a USF Project before Nintendo... lets try to keep all talk of any Project here from now on.

Here's where the conversation began:
Wonder when the pre-Nintendo USF project is announced... :look:

I have the distinct feeling that this project is either going to be at T2, Mummy, or at FFL.

I don't think they will touch Shrek, as much as I hate to say that; as I think there are other ways that the space can be used (wink, wink, new plaza, nudge, nudge), and that there are reasons for all three of those locations.

It'll be interesting, no matter what. But that I am curious if we'll get word on it sooner than later, if it's anything large.

As I said on the previous thread, I'm guessing Fear Factor. One of our more prominent posters, Quint, insinuated recently that Fear Factor would be gone fairly soon. This would be a good choice, especially since I would imagine the Ministry of Magic concept for that plot is probably now dead since the new Potter expansion will replace the DC 8 acre area.

Universal kinda has the stupid idea that they can't replace/add shows for some reason. There's no reason why a new show couldn't have replaced fear factor. There's no reason a new show can't go into Toon Lagoon. UO's modern day shows that they try to put out (Superstar, Cinespec) suck a$$.

I, for the life of me, can't understand why Fear Factor Live is still there taking up all that space...
I just think its a timing and resource issue more than anything else. Once F&F is done, I think they will move on something.

Why does one preclude the other?
Agreed. How would HP fans react to expansion of both areas at once? I don't think the MM build would be quite as daunting as the DC replacement, but as I mentioned in another thread, I'm thinking that Uni may be spread very thin with all the projects they are trying to pursue. Hopefully the quality will not suffer because of it.

There's enough room behind T2 for a small but substantial expansion (like a Fantasyland-style dark ride).

Shrek could be replaced with something similar to the DreamWorks Theatre but personally, I'd prefer them to get rid of Shrek/Hello Kitty altogether (I know it's new but it doesn't seem to be very popular) for an overhaul to the entrance. Get rid of Production Central (since the behind the scenes stuff is over) and do something similar to what USH did with its entrance.

Just guessing, but I don't think they'd do two Potter expansions in such close proximity time wise, plus the major Nintendo build. If Fear Factor is going now, I wouldn't think it was for Potter.
If they get rid of Feat Factor and don't build more Potter they should be sued for theme park malpractice. It's the only other Potter expansion plot they have. They'd be foolish to use it for anything else.

Disney is opening up a STAR WARS land. Uni should open 2 new Potter rides to combat it, no question

Personally I think that would be too much Harry Potter between the two parks. However, I understand it is and will always be a very popular IP so I'm sure it would end up being a major hit.

I think it's clear that so far there's no such thing as too much Harry Potter. Plus there's expansion pads elsewhere for other things. Using FFL for anything else seems dumb

It could just be a show replacement, and when it's time for another Potter expansion in 2023 plus, it could be easily replaced with a Potter attraction.

Regarding TWD coming full time to Orlando: that would be a bit risky. The series has lost A LOT of viewers this past season, and its viewership will only keep decreasing. Unless they build a venue in mind to have haunts that change often, I don't see them spending the money for a full time Walking Dead attraction.

I actually think the opposite. They want people going to both Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley; opening new attractions both ends would prevent people from saying "Oh, we went to Diagon Alley last time so let's just do Hogsmeade this time to see the brand new attraction."

Not to mention, I don't think opening a single Potter attraction would draw near as much buzz as the original openings for Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. Now opening TWO major attractions, one in each park, rounding out each side a bit more; I think that could work.

If they are seeking to compete with Star Wars, it could actually make sense to push two Potter Oriented Projects for the same year; and that would just ify a late 2019 release date for the land, as odds are; SWL will open in November.

If that's the case, that could explain the Pre-Nintendo USF project also.

If they do chose to build another Harry Potter attraction where Fear Factor Live currently sits, would it be possible to connect it to Diagon Alley or would it have a separate entrance?
