Maybe the higher height restrictions are due to something else than movement of the ride vehicle. Maybe it's due to the sexy girls in the pre-show? I know Americans rather have their kids seeing a big ape tearing a dino a new hole then scantly clothed women move to ungodly music. ;-)

Still a very strong puritanical view of sex, & other social issues, in this country, that's very backward.

The height restrictions are likely due to the different RV style. They are minimum 40" to ride, with children 40" to 48" requiring an adult to ride with them. Anyone 48" or taller can ride alone.

As far as I know, ride restrictions do not act like movie ratings...rather, they are a safety call by the manufacturer in regards to someone potentially being injured (or worse) by the ride system/restraints

Correct. Signs would say "Parental Guidance Suggested" if there was questionable content.

Guys, no. Plus this is not the place to discuss this.

Forgot who did Kong but F&F is Oceaneering. Oceaneering likely gave a suggested heigh requirement based on their own engineering. It's likely if Universal went against that and went lower to match Kong if anything was to happen Oceaneering would claim Universal is operating it outside of designed spec.

Could be the change from a single vehicle to one with two vehicles ties together.

I thought Kong was done by a group that mainly handled by a group involved with transporting cargo's from freight ships?

The Kong vehicle had the steering/drive base of a shipyard crate moving robot. The Furious vehicle will be more like the Hollywood tram vehicle. They are different.

Kong was a Dutch company that does systems for containers, mainly used at harbors. Forgot the name of the company, three letter thing, @Teebin should know the name.

And if what I've heard is true, this will be their last foray into ride systems, at least at Universal. As I mentioned before, they were not entirely honest about their claims and as a result the upkeep costs on Kong's vehicles are astronomical compared to what would be normal expected wear and tear. I would even go so far as to guess this has far more to do with the RV change for F&F than the wireless sensor problems.

The container system is also remote controlled via a joystick I think, so changing it to it being controlled by a computer system also changes things. I think one of the biggest issues might also be that it just a completely different environment than what the system is made for, and though it looked good in theory, it did not come out as good in practice. The narrowness of Kong is quite different from the openness of a harbor.

do you think they could sue VDL like how Uni sued the designers of the JAWS ride back in the day?

Who was the original company by the way? I know Oceanneering became big in this industry because of how well they fixed it.

Their specs were incorrect. I think when pertaining to shocks and things of that nature. Yea the road is bumpy on Kong, (at least outside,) and that's far different than the flat concrete these things are used to in a shipyard, but the company claimed they could withstand it, and Universal had no reason not to believe them.
