Mind expanding on why you think it doesn't work and is bad? Or is it too soon/don't want to get in trouble with UOR?
I mean, they encouraged all photography and video when asked and there were no signs stating not to give thoughts, so I don’t mind with this one.

It just really feels thrown together. The animation is just painful. I felt like I was thrown into the middle of a Cruis’n arcade game. At one point Vin Diesel straight up looks twice as big as the helicopter he’s holding onto.

They thought they found the solution for Kong’s front row problem by making it clear, but it created two new problems: The driver is just not well executed and you can now see the track in front of you which disorients you since you can clearly see that you’re not actually moving now. They added a lot of crazy exhaust smelling fog to distract you from the screen.

I just genuinely didn’t hear a single positive comment from a TM exiting the ride. The queue is fun though.

Just curious do you think it's a better or worse attraction than Jimmy Fallon's Race Through New York? (asking for a friend)

Up until this, Fallon was my least favorite ride. This is less enjoyable in my opinion because it’s just so messy honestly.

Real talk:

I've always read the decisions to build the ride we got as a panic move because Disaster was not going to last much longer, and this was the quickest/cheapest way to replace Disaster with a ride that will boost attendance and merch sales. I don't think it has anything to do with an IP "deserving" a ride system more than another. They just had a ride that was (more or less) plug and play, and they went with that as the easiest route.

Wasn't Kong originally going to be in the Disaster space, until they decided to "plus it" and add the AA. Which is why they moved it to IOA? It Appears UOR just took the other "360 Dome" ride and replaced the plans.

I don't think Kong was ever actually planned for the Disaster location.

Are you sure? I could have sworn I read it on this very board many many moons ago.

It's a drone, not a helicopter but your comment about it is so on point about what 99% of the public are going to think that what it really is is completely irrelevant.

Thanks for posting the early review. :toast:

I will add that I rode with three TMs who have worked Kong on varying occasions. They all preferred Kong to this ride even though only one of them actually really enjoys Kong. The one who enjoys Kong thought Fast was a 4/10 on ride 1 and a 2/10 on ride #2.

We all knew exactly what Hollywood’s version was like and were all surprised at how bad it ended up being.

I know they were waiting for this to be done before starting better rides, but I think they will need to announce some details of those rides if this sucks as much as it sounds.

No they won't.

1) The GP won't complain about this as much as fanboys do. They just won't.
2) Even if the GP did, what would "Yea, but we have a new park opening in 2023!" do to calm them down?

Are you sure? I could have sworn I read it on this very board many many moons ago.

It was a rumor, yea. I don't buy it was ever actually a plan.

though only one of them actually really enjoys Kong.

Makes me question the taste of the others.

I’m returning real quick just to give some additional thoughts to the mix. I’ve been on twice this morning and I’m going to be honest, this is abysmal. This is actively worse than Kong in almost every single way (it’s even about two min shorter — I timed it at 5:30 on my second ride). I had extremely low expectations going in after seeing the Hollywood version on YouTube waaaaay back when it opened, but this was still worse than I expected. No one in my party was happy with the experience at all and feel extremely bad for the TM’s that are going to hear the nonstop complaints.

How did I do it to myself? How did I make myself believe it would at least be slightly better than we thought?

I think the GP’s reaction to this will vary massively if they have been on Kong or not and possibly how they get to F&F.

If they go DM, Shrek, Fallon and then ride this. I think they’re going to be pissed.

My friend rode it today twice. After first ride he said "Worst ride I have ever been on, ever". 2nd ride he said "it's better from the back of the bus"

He also sent me some videos of two pre-show rooms, and all I can say is cringe.

No, they won't be "pissed". Screen fatigue is real, and Uni knows it, but from what I've heard it's not reflected in the ride's individual reactions. So people generally like Fallon, but people also are at the point they generally dislike how many 3D rides are at Uni.

So I'm expecting a similar reaction to F&F. People will see it as "fine", but it may increase the screen fatigue view of the overall park.

It’s definitely better in the middle of the first car. Second car is not a great ride from my single experience. Just like Kong, I’d highly advise against the front row.

The preshow is very hit or miss. It was abysmal my first time through, but fairly entertaining the second time through. It all depends on the TMs you get. It seems like they’re told to play awkward which is a very odd choice that definitely won’t translate well unless a really good TM is in the position.

No one plays awkward better than this guy:
