I find it weird all these people will go with bag searches, metal detectors, and bomb-sniffing dogs but a mask is too far. I believe once this is in place for a few weeks or months it'll just be accepted, like the post 9/11 security enhancements.

Considering I’ve heard more then a couple times that some people willing to let people get sick and die if it gets the parks open again, the entitlement of thinking they don’t need to wear a mask doesn’t surprise me at all.

They're going to have be firm on this issue, even if it means kicking out hundreds of people.

It's important now more than ever that the parks show that someone's right to enjoy their day doesn't infringe upon everyone else's safety. Otherwise, the PR will be damning and no one will want to show up.

At Universal, managers are the only ones allowed to approach guests not wearing masks. If they do not comply then security is brought in.

They’ll like get a refund, but hopefully theyll get removed.
Also, remember that it’s mid-May. A lot can change between now and when the parks open. I could see a July opening with no masks, or masks done in a week with complaints.
But bottom line is hopefully people respect a private company’s policy. If someone disagrees with that, they should email and complain but shouldn’t go.

Disney has already added a disclaimer that they hold no responsibility if you catch COVID in the parks. They could also add that refusal to wear a mask will result in expulsion from the park.

Adding a new disclaimer about masks, I don’t know how that would work with APs unless there was something in the into a agreement that they can change their guidelines at any time.

i guess i was thinking of my experience of seeing people ignore rules back in the day (both at disney and uni, and hhn) and remembering the times people broke smoking rules at the parks, or when parents at hhn would let kids drink their jello shots while in queue, stuff like that, i guess we'll wait and see.

More signals today from the Federal government to open up the economy....from the Washington Post just now..."Health & Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said
it's safe to reopen the country because half of the counties reporting 'haven't had a single death', and more than 60% of all covid -19 cases are in just 2% of the reporting
counties. In states such as Georgia and Ohio, where 90% of the economy is open, 'we're not seeing a spike in cases' Azar said. He stressed that surveilling people with symptoms
and responding with contact tracing and isolation are key to controlling a potential spread'.......................I would bet DeSantis runs with that statement to push tourism to open soon.

I want to come here and note that Alex Azar does not care about the general welfare of the public. He is not part of the CDC and while working for Eli Lilly he triped the price of insulin. He's terrible.

I personally don't think it will be an issue, I expect the vast majority to comply with the rules stated

There are the small minority that will wind up in the Orlando Sentinel....But, such is life, the crazies make the news

Ironically, the odds of being in a terrorist attack are laughably smaller than catching Covid....and probably getting struck by lightning

It's interesting that all the places I've gone in Asia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam...wearing masks is a way of life and custom

I always wondered when it would make its way here

These are all momentary inconveniences which ironically provide less safety than wearing a mask I guess.

I'm not defending people refusing to wear a mask but wearing a mask all day in the Florida heat does sound kind of miserable.

It is what it is and you have a choice. If you don't want to wear a mask, don't go to the parks. It is literally that simple.

I think that’ll change if we hit the herd immunity threshold. It’s easy to imagine being bombed/shot or whatever due to the deluge of violence in the media, but it’s a lot harder to picture the virus (sorry, invisible enemy) as a tangible threat in your day to day life.

If 80% of the US population gets covid you’re talking around a million people dead. A lot of people will know someone, or know of someone, that died of this. A lot more people will know someone that at least ALMOST died of this.

This is weird to note with all of the cyberpunk media coming out but corporations are doing a better job at governing than our government is lol. I feel safer at Costco than I do at the damn post office lol

or at least make the masks mandatory in rides and inside buildings, but space out groups outside and maybe masks arent as mandatory from ride to ride. it depends on the crowds. i can understand if people wanna take a breather outside

I think if you're social distancing outside, getting a breather seems fine and expected. You're also going to have to remove your mask to eat and drink.

We're just going to have to take it as it comes. Italy seems to be doing well, even after restrictions are being eased.

This is not hard to do. When I am within 6 feet of others or indoors to do a face to face transaction I wear a mask for their peace of mind. The clerks have to be there after all, they don't want to lose their jobs and I applaud them for facing all those people every day.
Otherwise there is no need to wear it walking to my car. Or worse, the ones I see wearing a mask while driving alone in the car.....

i am wondering if the wind carries the virus and how far it carries it. lately orlando has been chilly and windy, not to be paranoid, but it makes me wonder. 6 feet might not be enough depending on wind?

Disney cannot release themselves of liabilities. The courts can, Disney cannot. If a shopping cart hits my car, I for sure can sue a grocery store for damage regardless of what any sign says. It's up to a court if that grocery store is liable, not th store.

A COVID-19 Warning
We have taken enhanced health and safety measures—for you, our other Guests, and Cast Members. You must follow all posted instructions while visiting Walt Disney World Resort.
An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.
By visiting Walt Disney World Resort, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
Let's keep each other healthy and safe.

They'll probably scare enough people to not even try plus it would be near impossible to prove that you caught it at the parks.

Outside of toilets in industrialized Asia, American technology has been ahead of anything Asia has put out for decades now. We're certainly the leader. We're also the ones that designed those theme park ride systems. And outside of Korea, which is one of, if not the most liberal country in the east; what cinematic influences are they doing that the west is not? It isn't even close, IMO.

For all the great things about Asia (the entire continent), of which there are plenty, innovation is certainly not one of them and hasn't been for decades now. Liberal minded folks create and innovate. And that's where the West, in particular America, shines.

The had the (un)fortunate event of basically having the bulk of the urban parts of their country be New York City. They surprisingly announced today that they are opening up travel; including international, on June 3rd. Whereas just 2-3 weeks before, they were thinking 2021. That and tourism is 13% of their GDP.

Article today in the Washington Post on this, the first weekend Bourbon Street, New Orleans, was open. Just a few people on the street and in the restaurants. Like a ghost town said a few of the visitors.
