But they’re not the “same amount of thrill.” The thrill level of Yoshi and Mario Kart are vastly different. Physically, they’re similar. But when the ride experiences are considered in total? Nope.
Yea, thrill levels seem to line up with game demographics.

Yoshi leans younger
Donkey Kong a bit older
Mario kart for the whole family

I would not consider FJ or IJA “family friendly”. Great rides, but FJ is a puke machine, and IJA really throws you around

"Family friendly" is a spectrum. I would still consider Hagrid's and Everest, for example, to be family coasters. I would consider all the B&Ms, VC, IG, and to a lesser extent Cheetah Hunt and Rockit to be "thrill" coasters.

There's a fun childlike wonder that's oozing through Mario's Universe....Any Nintendo forum will show you that most people don't get it

Something Universal does really well is nailing the feeling and tone of an IP

And this land nails the feeling I got when I played MK on the N64 for the first time
Having Childlike wonder doesn’t mean “only for children”. I don’t think the ride gives off that vibe anyways.

Eh. I don’t know anyone that would classify FJ as “Family Friendly”.

Perhaps not. Obviously FJ is more intense than say MIB. I should modify my original statement to say "intensity" is a spectrum--on one extreme end you have carousels, on the other extreme end you have stuff like Montu and Alien Encounter (my favorite coaster in FL and the attraction I never got to experience but most wish I could've).

Sorry to double post, but I almost wish they wouldn't have called the ride "Mario Kart" and just called it something else

The b*tching would have been far less

First post here! Hiiiiiiiiiiii.... love all the info and great universal news and photos you post. I’ve been reading about the complaints of “Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge” and for some reason I just took this ride as an another level of Mario Kart. Like a “battle” or another add on to the game. Instead of a battle or a race it is “Koopa’s Challenge” for the Universal Cup. So it’s like it’s own unique level of Mario Kart.

Yes exactly. That’s why it’s called “Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge”.

I just don’t think people understand that. The ride looks phenomenal.... and I am confused by this whole complaint system. It went from “it’s all screens” to “there are no animatronics”....( they see it’s all sets and animatronics).... “it’s not fast! “
It’s a new segment of Mario Kart for the theme parks... I just don’t get the complaints.

The fast part (or simulated speed) I understand as it's clearly possible throughout (see the last scene)

Ironically, I just watched a review on YouTuber that mentions they get motion sick very easy on rides and this ride didn't do that

I think the lack of speed sensation is intentional

Universal, in all reality, needs less rides that can potentially make you dizzy/motion sick while they need more immersive rides that rely on practical effects

This ride checks both boxes

As far as people saying it has too many screens.....suck on a Toad

Questions

1) Why have we not seen videos of the land at night
2) Are they selling Nitendo themed Masks?

I was saying that the first reaction to the leaked video was people saying “ it’s all screens” not knowing it was AR... and now people are saying the AR is terrible after thinking it was screens.
