For those who have ridden it - do you think it’s likely VC will become perceived as THE big / intense coaster at the resort over the Hulk?
Yes. I actually went on Hulk not too long after and I think i'm just starting to get to the point of being done with the ride. It's just so rough and I come off with my head spinning every time and its just kinda not fun anymore.

The drop is menacing for guests approaching, and it's also what I like to call "sneaky fast". From the courtyard, when trains pass by you, the ride seems like it can't be going that fast. Then you get on and its just nonstop from beginning to end. It also is eye catching from pretty much every Island.

Based on the reviews it Sounds like we may have a new coaster king in Orlando; maybe even Florida until iron gwazi opens. Glad to see UOR didn’t skimp on the thrill here. Nice to have a Cedar Fair worthy coaster open in a major theme park.

I agree, @Nick. Not sure if I can do Hulk that much anymore. I do like that VC didn't leave my head feeling rattled.

"Nonstop from beginning to end" is accurate. And yeah....the trains don't seem like they're going that fast when viewing them on the ground, but it's different when you're actually on it.

You get whipped around a good bit in the back row. And I'm pretty sure that isn't a heartline roll.

Appreciate your perspective on here and the other thread, esp. with you having ridden the back row. I was in row 6 and felt like I was whipped around a lot, esp. in the first half.

Sounds incredible, really can’t wait to get a ride in. I’ve felt the same after riding the Hulk on our last couple of visits - come off feeling slightly beaten, and not in a good way. If VelociCoaster is intense but doesn’t leave me feeling like that after the ride I’m sure it’ll quickly become one of my favourite attractions at the resort.

We have a provisional trip booked for late August / early September and I‘m realllly hoping it can go ahead.

You feel the ride from Velocicoaster after, but in such a better way than Hulk. This thing is nice and smooth, but it's just so intense throughout. I heard some people coming off making some remarks on how it made them felt like "It made them feel alive" or "That was the jolt they needed before work". That's what you can expect out of this. This will easily be a top coaster not just in Orlando or Florida, but just in general.

I rode in Row 7 and was lucky enough to get a re-ride and got row 4. I was a bit disappointed I got what i'd consider "the middle" on both trips instead of seeing what the front or back were like, but hey, at least I got to ride it and you APs who have reservations next week are in for a treat! (But really, that locker situation is gonna be a mess with the general public).

Why? Are there not enough lockers?
The lockers are mid-queue and it's sort of in a tight area. My theory on why they did this instead of putting the lockers out in the courtyard where they have plenty of space is so people can have their phone on them for half of the line or so, but it just seems like the average guest is going to be confused and the amount of people coming through there is going to make it sort of like the Diagon lockers where there's often a line to enter because it's such a small space.

Although if ops handles it right, this could be a non-issue.

For sure it’s going to take some adjustment for everyone, but I trust the ops to be all over it by opening. You’re right that it will take a bit for general guests to adjust to such a different concept

Knowing that Dave @Disneyhead, (with his vast technical knowledge of coasters, his 'very' lifelong experience of riding them in the midwest/northeast's coaster country, and he being a true coaster fanatic),
endorses VelociCoaster so strongly, is proof enough to me that this is a terrific attraction. Dave saying it's better than Maverick, which was one of his favorite, if not favorite, coasters, speaks volumes.
Looks like Universal hit a home run here.

I think many people don't realize so many Universal TMs worked in their regional Cedar Fair or Six Flags before going to work for Universal, so discounting their opinion because you think they've only ridden local coasters is wrong. There are MANY TMs who are coaster fanatics and moved here to Orlando because they wanted a full time job doing what they love. If TMs are raving about Velocicoaster, there's definitely a percentage who are fans and have been on all the "big" coasters for comparison.

This coaster has a lot going for it- speed, length, scenery. It's easily going to be a favorite with the GP and coaster fanatics.

I know a decent amount of people who have moved from places like that and funny enough almost all of them did the DCP first. The DCP is the gateway to coming to Florida, but then they realize they don't like working for Disney. So Universal is where a lot of people land if they stay in Florida after their program.

Well since I feel it needs to be addressed...

Comparing VelociCoaster to other rides is ok, as is saying it's the best coaster you've ridden. If someone has been on similar coasters to you and rates it highly that's useful info.

Fans trying to "well actually" is not. Showing off you've been on Formula Rosa helps no one. (Not that I've seen this that much here)

My only other thought about anything is that the safety spiel video or whatever with Bryce Dallas Howard - something was off there. At first I thought it was a Flight of passage situation where they had someone who looked like her, sort of like the woman in FOP looks like Sigourney Weaver. I looked it up and she does look like this in the first movie, so maybe it's just that it's on an enlarged screen that sort of amplifies the awkwardness of the bad wig.

Heard from someone the ride was faster than they expected, and they didn’t even see the Raptor figures in the paddock area lol.

If Ops handles that locker room right, I honestly think it's a game changer. Putting the locker in the queue itself rather than redesigning entirely seperate buildings as makeshift lockers like Hagrids or Hulk makes such a big difference in how the queue flows imo. And the dual sided aspect makes it that much smoother. Hoping that this system makes it into most rides at EU.

And yeah, my friends and I were discussing whether Claire was a lookalike or not. Definitely Chris Pratt though, loved his performance here. Perfect balance of cheese.

I actually think it’s more then just the phone. I think they’ve wanted to enable guests to keep their stuff on them longer, in general, and not need to have a separate area with separate queueing, for guests waiting for lockers. You do it all in the one queue, keeps it simple and easy.

Perhaps I was naughty when I was in the parks in 2013/14 - but sometimes I would leave my stuff in the FJ lockers for as long as the time limit allowed, doing single rider… and I’m sure others do that also, this will cycle stuff in and out very quickly.

You're definitely right in that it will cut down on people taking advantage of the few remaining" free" lockers. Why pay for a locker for you stuff over at Bilge Rat if you can put your stuff in a free locker at Hulk and then come back and get it, right? The only thing is they have to make sure this isn't chaos, which I think they can do, but I also think it will be very tough on busy days because of the relatively low theme park IQ of the average guest.

It sounds like Universal have a mega-hit on their hands, which should hopefully be good for the prospect of continued investment at the two existing parks over the next four years.

Would I have preferred that they built an attraction (in my favorite land in the park, where I’ve been wishing for a major new ride since 1999!) that I could actually do? Of course. The quality of the work looks to be at a very high level for this sort of attraction (the queue, with its copious references and the big presence of Mr. DNA, is particularly nice), and I’m envious of all those who will enjoy it.

But if it boosts numbers enough to get Universal to greenlight a SLOP-level addition at the current resort sooner than later, I’ll be more than happy.

Now, when are we getting a Mr. DNA merchandise line?
