WB Dubai

Slightly off-topic, but I wish Warner Bros. would expand their current deal with Six Flags, so they could build some Warner Bros. World indoor parks in the United States.

Six Flags has no intention of building parks, and they don't have the money for it either. Both Warner and Six Flags are just licensing their names/properties.

Darn, and I have no idea how bad it would be if Warner Bros. finally ended their licensing deal with Six Flags.

Also, somebody keeps removing my idea post for Universal England.

Harry Potter is coming to Warner Bros Abu Dhabi.

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is already home to a whole host of much-loved stories and characters, including The Flintstones, Bugs Bunny, Scooby-Doo, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Tom and Jerry.

From thrilling themed rides and attractions to spectacular shows and fine-dining experiences, on Yas Island visitors can immerse themselves in everything Warner. Bros – and soon this will also include the magic of the wizarding world as a new Harry Potter-themed land is set to join the six existing immersive landscapes.

Speaking about the project, HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Miral said: “We are very proud of our continuous partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery and excited to be bringing this spell-binding first to the Middle East, and the world.”

Pam Lifford, President, Global Brands and Experiences from Warner Bros. Discovery, added: “The Wizarding World offers something for fans of every age to enjoy. The original Harry Potter stories and the blockbuster film series continue to captivate and inspire fans around the world, and our Global Themed Entertainment team, together with our world-class partner Miral, is looking forward to bringing this magical experience to life at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi. Together with our lands at Universal Parks, this will add a wholly new and spectacular destination for fans to immerse themselves in.”

The Harry Potter-themed land at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi will sit alongside six existing immersive experiences: Warner Bros. Plaza, Bedrock, Dynamite Gulch, Cartoon Junction, Gotham City and Metropolis.

For more information about Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, and to keep up-to-date with the latest news about the all-new Harry Potter-themed land, be sure to keep checking out the Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi website.

It will be interesting to see if they do high caliber attractions like Universal has, or if their attraction(s) are similar to that VR attraction that's in NYC.

Given the nature of this being specified to have a land; I'd have to imagine that an attraction of high profile makes sense.

What I'm curious of..is what NBCUniversal says. I wonder how involved they were, considering how integral Potter was to have for the thematic scale and quality of the Potter brand across the 5 parks it's featured in.

and....will Warner & Rowling be as demanding and nitpicking as they are with Universal.

For a park that doesn't have the embarrassment of funds that Disney and Universal get, WB Dubai seems to have made some pretty solid attractions with Knight Flight, Animayhem, and Museum of Mysteries.

But yeah, the big thing to pay attention to here will be what type of ride system gets used.

Lol dude it’s Dubai…that’s like the definition of embarrassment of funds.

Per the Universal Contract, doesn’t any HP land need to be “the best quality in the world” or something like that? I dunno how you enforce that - but that was my immediate thought.

Lots of questions!
  1. As said before, will there be rides? I could totally see this being just a land with no rides. Since the park is all indoors it feels like a good way to use the Ministry.
  2. Did Universal know about this before the announcement? The nod in the press release makes me think yes.
  3. What will the merchandise and food look like? The WB Studio Tours and Potter NYC store all sell Universal merch with Universal formulated Butterbeer. Will it be the same here?
  4. When is it even opening!??!
