Grab a drink and settle in for some reading:

Revenge of the Mummy Refurbishment (Late 2022)

Yes, there is a fun practical scarab effect where they drop out of a reservoir into a tray and fall Also there is a rotating scarab effect on the columns and a practical scarab curtain that moves through the whole room when they come out of the wall Mixed with projection it's a fun little...

Also, there's no chance that the entire internet missed a coaster's worth of track going both into and out of the building. Being in a climate-controlled environment would extend its life quite considerably.

At the very least, let's hope they finally fix the timing of the water effects at the scarab scene.

I like to watch it happen well after we've left the room. It's always oddly comforting to me to see it go off after we already dropped down backwards.

I'll definitely be disappointed if they didn't take time to at least freshen up some of the queue, but I suppose I understand if they had to spend the budget elsewhere instead. Components like ride track and computer systems do have recommended lifespans. If it was outlined by the manufacturer when they paid for the ride, then it's basically the industry standard and they have to do it - unless they're willing to assume more liability by not doing it.

It seemed they were testing a new route for the queue before the closure, interested to see if that will become more permanent

Essentially the Express merge point was moved to the blue interactive scarab room instead of the steps leading up to the load platform, nothing crazy

I don't know where I'm going in the queue at any given time so I don't even know that I would notice a change.

I liked it honestly, after the merge you basically rushed through to the steps

Only thing is, the line was more likely to back up outdoors

They were also using VQ at the time

Is it expected to re-open next month?

BTW, was reading back through this thread and saw a post from January 2020 when the refurb talk began, "hope it isn't closed this April."

There have been some murmurings this could re-open earlier than expected as Universal tweeted it would open "sometime this summer" rather than late summer. Probably reading too mucn into it but it could be true.

I am heading to Orlando on August 17th for 2 weeks, cancelled trip 3 times and will now be my honeymoon. Anybody reckon there is a chance it could be open by then?

Since there’s been no discussion of Mummy reopening this July 4th weekend, that rumor appears to have been wrong. Is anyone hearing a new estimate for completion of the work? Planning to be there July 20-21. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

I have always heard late July/early August.

Just like they officially said, “late summer.”

I haven’t heard anything recently.

My guess is the walls will come down soon and this will be the barriers to keep guests back. First they need to put the Mummy exit shop back to how it used to be...

It could be an overnight thing, just need to clear out of the figures at the exit ramp.

Don't count on it opening up this weekend. Maybe next week?
