Sure thing.
I find that the bands playing at various concert series (Eat, this, etc) tend to aim for a type of audience with their bookings. For Mardi Gras I find they aim for a wide variety of acts that hit the 21-35 age range PLUS some older acts to balance it out. Then throw in Universal pulls from actively touring artists and the festival circuit, so at some point, you have a limited number of choices. I believe that they've kept the same general idea of who they want to attract, but it's culture and music that's evolved and changed. And again, the artists can say no! I firmly believe that FOB was even on the table that year because Patrick Stump worked on the Hulk music.
Basically, just because it's not interesting to you doesn't mean it's not interesting on the same scale to others.
