Not sure where to put this one, please move if there is somewhere better. May fit in the HHN thread but really not sure.

The Scaremaze (The Sanctuary) at Alton Towers was linked to The Smiler, within the maze were clues to what may appear in the new coaster. That maze closed today and I was lucky enough to be in the last group through.

Check out the pictures here

Thanks Mate glad you like the shots, off to grab some more tomorrow.

Vertical lift hill is now complete with track, strangley it has a lift hill with chain and ratchet and the track has fins, very odd.

Heavier cars than the normal Eurofighters, 4x4s instead of 2x4s so would make sense.

Could there be more to these brake fins? Have they used them on lift hill before?

Speculation is rife on the fins, Never before has a Gerst vertical lift had them. Some believe they are anti roll backs whilst others think they may be for some secret element, train drops back down the lift is a popular thought. Personally, I have no idea what they are for.

The train dropping backwards came to mind for me too, but unless they enclose the lift it wouldn't be much of a surprise.

Awesome update, Mark! This is really coming together. And look at all that theming, too! This is shaping up to be a crazy coaster and a crazy experience overall with all those special elements. Can't wait to hear how it rides!

True, but it would still be very freaky and effective :sneaky:

Had a few hours on park this afternoon and grabbed a few shots. The crane was tied up all day with the lift chain so no track went in today, plenty of other interesting things happening though. A lot of the banners were down when I got on site.

Top of the lift hill

Loading the chain in, the chain seems to be going in in parts.

Looks like it will be the 14, although we do still have a secret or 2 to discover, so could be more. Time will tell.

Looking like an 18th May opening, I have heard their will be a media event on the 17th. Getting close now, what are your thought HTF, on time?

Also check out this radio interview from creator John Wardley.
