I loved the movie after going in with very tempered expectations since it seemed like more of the same based on the trailers. That ended up not being the case for a majority of the run time in my opinion thankfully. But man, the last act felt like I rewatched Way of Water. To the point I was actually in slight disbelief that they really didn’t try to do anything unique or different.

My partner made this point that if the films finale was set at the RDA HQ during the rescue mission, and they somehow worked in Varang playing Quaritch to take down the humans and dominate Pandora with their human weapons, it would have been a far better finale and I completely agree. Have the ending be the humans versus the Fire Clan with the Sully family and a few others from the Water Clan caught in between. God it screams missed opportunity to me.

The first 90ish minutes of this are excellent.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the second 90. Needed to use Varang (awesome character and performance) and the ash clan a lot more.

I enjoyed this one more then the last one

My only real thing is these are too long for me to enjoy....and I feel like the next one will be even longer

I think the new villain is great and they made all the characters mostly more interesting but just....find a way to edit this down or make a TV show

But I'd watch this over the second film...which I forgot about the whole third act until I watched a recap...I thought the second film ended with the water battle

There were far more emotional beats in this film, juggling stories of racism, hope, grief, redemption and acceptance along with all the usual kablooey

man James Cameron really, really, really hates white people (good thing too!)

In all seriousness, Fire and Ash is my favorite of the series sofar. The film doesn’t hold your hand and really asks you to go into it on the fly, allowing you to be in the moment to moment.

Varang and Quartitch have a dynamic that makes them really gel together aa bonafide great villains. One of the set pieces of the film reminded me heavily of Terminator 2: 3D, in the best way possible.

I know Cameron wants to do Hiroshima next, but man I’d actually be down for Avatar 4 and 5 to see how he wraps up the story fully.

Funny enough, I think these films works with Gaps

I feel like since most people are here for just the special effects having a film every 4ish years might work vs most other series that need films ever y few years to remind people they like it, lol
