The movie is a triumph. A little flabby, but that's kind of to be expected. It goes for the jugular, and succeeds. It's way heavier than I expected it to be

Yeah, with how many cast members are in this one and how much they are juggling at once, it’s truly a feat that they made a film this good out of it.

I think I need to go watch it again just to make sure I didn't miss anything as there was so much going on.

Saw it last night. Wow. Favorite Marvel movie yet. Go see it! Definitely the darkest movie yet for the MCU.

I know, I know. I just feel like the ending cheapened the movie since we know of those upcoming movies.

In short, even in a comic book world, the deaths didn’t carry weight or feel real because of that

Jesus, I don't think I ever left the theater feeling gobsmacked like that. Ever.

My showing ended in total silence. Everybody kind of looked at each other and was like "wut"?. It was surreal.

also - Marvel and Co. basically stated that parts 3 and 4 are different movies..... but it def feels like this could’ve been Infinity War:Part 1 - meaning next year should’ve stayed part 2. Didn’t tbey say this one wouldn’t end on a cliffhanger; or rather have a definitive ending?

Well if you watch this from the perspective of Thanos, then it is a complete story. He got what he wanted and has a happy ending. The Russo Bros have been saying for a while now that this film belongs to Thanos. He even has the most screen time.

Also, as a side note, I'm thinking that anyone that died BEFORE the snap is dead-dead but if they died AFTER the snap then they're able to be brought back

To go non-spoilers, the film is entirely a event film, from beginning to end.

I highly encourage everyone to watch the film ASAP, as it far exceeds the level of it's impact than even The Force Awakens did.

That said..

Spoilers:
1.) Josh Brolin as Thanos was amazing, as he carried every moment he had on the spotlight, from the ritual with Red Skull to the encounters with Thor, Loki, and Steven Strange. He brings it to a whole new level, and while I hate the bastard, I love him as-well for what he desired.

2.) Gamora, was the death I expected but that I am still hurt to see happen. Especially as it does drive the impact more of what Thanos does, to where his decisions will have a cost on the universe going forward. Similar goes for Vision, but his is more torture as-well when Wanda see's him dying right in-front of her.

3.) The ending, is simulaniously my favorite part of the film and my least favorite part of the film. The most shocking ending to come from the MCU, and that it made sense, but that I hate it, for just how sudden and abrupt it happens. I guess it makes sense, but it does drive a unyielding rage within me, to where I cursed out into the sky shortly after the film was over and I was somewhere secure enough to do so.

It's my favorite and least favorite film of the MCU, and that I am more interested of Ant-Man and The Wasp, as Hawkeye is now with Scott (along with Captain Marvel).

Now about that ending...(Obvious spoilers below)

While one could say the ending was lessened due to future knowledge etc, I disagree a bit with that. I fully know things are going to be fixed in the second film, but that did not make the impact of SEEING half of humanity get wiped out hit any less harder. An' I'm seeing plenty of stunned/wrecked reactions that proved this ending got them. You only get one shot at this kind of moment, and unlike BvS botching the Death of Superman...Marvel landed this one.

Not to mention, I had a feeling they were going to have this moment happen somewhere in the films...and the more I think about it, this is the best place to put it. Having it as the final note of the 1st film, that weight is going to linger quite a bit as we have to wait a year to see how it's resolved. Had this moment been in the second film, there would be no weight whatsoever since it would be quickly resolved, there would be no moment to honestly take in what just happened, and -that- would've felt cheap.

To do a "Villain Wins" ending, let alone on that magnitude and even with the knowledge things will eventually be fixed, that is still a gutsy ending.

I really hope that those who died before Thanos' finger snap stay dead. Not because I don't like those characters but that the impact of loss would remain.

Man, talk about being the Empire Strikes Back for the MCU. I figured things would get dark, but not THIS dark. Even though we know about the other films coming up, the impact still remained of everyone vanishing. Everyone in the theater gasped when Black Panther started vanishing.

Honestly, I do see some coming back from the ether, but it won't be like their ressurection will have no consequence.

I imagine the safe-bets are Spider-Man, Steven Strange, Peter, Black Panther, with Drax, Fury, and Mantis (along with Groot).

I do think Gamora is dead, Heimdell is dead, Loki is dead, and Vision is dead (Along with Barnes).

I do see Wanda coming back, but that I think they are going to do something that may make sense, introduce Mutants to the MCU. And so-far, the reason why I believe that is how Dark Phoenix has dropped the X-Men branding and The New Mutants is this far back to where it'd be easy for them to re film the film to eliminate elements of X-Men. And, I don't see them talking about Mutants until a Post Credits scene for A4, similar to how Nick Fury was approached to the MCU back in IM1

I have a feeling those who died before the "balancing" will stay dead.

Though on another note, when it comes to your joke post on the DCA Marvel Land thread...um, lesson learned?
No hard feelings as I can understand making the joke, but that's why you make sure you know what happens in a film before joking about it.
