Banning X/Twitter on the Forums?

At some point (and that point has been crossed a long time ago) when someone continues to find themselves defending against such accusations it should be understood and taken that they know exactly what they're doing. It's a boiling frog situation mixed with gaslighting to normalize disgusting behavior until it gets to the point where the person doing the offending behavior drops the 'I was just kidding' part because they feel safe enough to do so. End of story.

Generally people are the sum of the company they keep; there seems to be a concentration of certain kinds of people circling around Musk's (and other's) orbit. Make of that what you will, but it is no accident and very much intentional. My opinion as of now is if you're someone who "can't" see that or chooses not to by now, then I assume you also ignore lessons history has taught and enjoy the taste of sand.


It wasn't always that way! Good moderation teams exist, or existed as they did on Twitter and Facebook before they were removed. Without quality moderation and the teams that run them then unpalatable things tend to spread unchecked.


The beauty of the internet is that eventually new platforms will grow. It's slow and takes time but that is a great part of the Internet! It does take effort and some habit-breaking to do it however it's not impossible.

I've typed and deleted several paragraphs over the last few hours because I'm truly at a loss for words and didn't know how to address it.

The decision was made on the first page that despite the incident, we would continue to use the X/Twitter platform. We are now on page 3. Instead of listening to those upset or concerned about his actions and showing compassion, they were met with upsetting remarks and strawman arguments, particularly from individuals who usually lurk instead of talk.

We need to be more empathetic to each other but also realize that certain things are non-starters.

Symbols that connect to hate and historical trauma evoke real pain for many, and deflecting it with jokes or other tactics instead of clarifications or apologies - especially since Musk has been accused of antisemitism before and has supporters who lay on those sides of beliefs - can only further embolden those accusations and empower those with said beliefs.

Musk has a responsibility to consider the impact of his actions. Words matter. Gestures matter. Every word and gesture he makes carries considerable weight, especially given his proximity to one of the most powerful figures in the U.S.

I'm not going to sit here and try to convince anyone whether Elon Musk did the Nazi salute intentionally or not because everyone's mind is already made up, but there should be absolutely no argument as to why people have a hard time believing it considering his lack of empathy after the gesture.

With that said, the convo is over. No more politics.

I post a lot of stuff on here from Twitter but I completely understand and would accept if any content from there was banned on this site. I hate Elon Musk very much and I do 100% think he's a nazi. Even outside of him doing the salute on live TV he's a terrible person. I only use that app because it's still the fastest app to get news from and I follow a lot of accounts on there. I do have bluesky I just don't use it very much

all I was going to say is that you're the reason I got a twitter a long time ago because of all the news and scoops you post lol .
I always appreciate it when you bring news of Hollywood stuff happening. and then I click on the link to see the comments lol. I'm always reading the convos on twitter. it's entertaining to see the conversations on pop culture.

I'm always checking to see if you posted anything new. any new developments. thank you for your movie news posts. it's great.
