Speaking of Sirens/Merpeople, that’s the exact scarezone concept I’m gonna work on. I originally wanted to revolve around a Madonna type of pop star, but I’m instead going by a Japanese Pop Idol Youkai inspired by Uta from One Piece, the sea-related myths and folklore, and the most obvious one, Ariel from the Disney version of The Little Mermaid.

Just got the newest scarezone concept, and it’s been a while that I’ve revisited the Japanese theme. As a request on Discord, J-Pop is newest represented genre in my alt-universe of HHN in Face The Music. I was originally inspired by Madonna, but I was told not to go on this type of approach, which I’m glad I didn’t. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be effective.

I hope you guys enjoy!

At the beginning of October, I’m gonna work on the next scare zone concept. To represent the EDM genre in my themed event idea of HHN: Face The Music, y’all know what act I’m gonna go with.

HHN 35 - Nightmares Unchained

I like to be somewhat realistic with my ideas. My general thoughts for this "wish list" event for next year are:
  • IT is returning with a tv series... likely the best chance of getting that IP at HHN
  • Terrifier has shown it's popularity beyond the Horror fandom, I can see him returning year after year (or every other year).
  • I know Jack isn't the only icon... but he's really the only one with mass appeal. I like the idea of creating anniversary around him... but this time he's not the only major nightmare/clown to worry about.
  • An 11th house & and additional entertainment offerings are desperately needed.
  • Didn't include it this year, but once the new coaster construction is done, I'd like to see them "expand" the footprint of the event (like this year) with additional zones beyond the main park areas.

HAUNTED HOUSES
  1. IT: Welcome to Derry - the only way I see the character at the event. I hope for a "best of" Pennywise with some inspirations from the new tv series. It's probably the last "white whale" for the event to tackle.
  2. Terrifier: Art's Class of Horror - Art is back by popular demand... this time he shows off some of his best, and gruesome, kills.
  3. Jack Versus Oddfellow - the "anniversary" house where Jack seeks vengeance against Oddfellow. HHN Icons take advantage and try to also undermine Jack by attempting to control HHN.
  4. The Shining - built at a large scale than the previous adaptation, this time with an impressive force-perspective Overlook Hotel facade.
  5. Stranger Things- the largest/longest HHN house ever constructed. Begins with a quick recap of Seasons 1-3, before focusing on Seasons 4-5.
  6. Chance's Midway of the Bizarre - I want to give Chance a proper house. I like the idea of her inviting you "backstage" of Jack's Carnival where she shows you how they prepare their victims show.
  7. Dead Man's Pier: Autumn's Wake - a "fall/Halloween" take on Dead Man's Pier.
  8. Freddy Universe - pretty much Jason Universe, but Freddy.
  9. Lost Riches - a pirate-themed house that takes you meandering through the streets of a Caribbean seaside village. Think Pirates of the Caribbean, but dirtier and violent. The finale is a massive battle between a pirate ship (force perspective) and a fort. Pirates swing across side to side (like El Artista).
  10. Scarecrow: The Harvest - fan-favorite returns, with different scenes of course
  11. Mel's Drive-In: Last Bite - Visit Mel's Drive-In as it is overrun by zombies.

SCARE ZONES
  1. Carnival of Carnage - similar setup to this year's Origins of Horror, but carnival themed of course. I think Origins is a perfect mix of "photo op" zone. This zone should always tie to the overall aesthetic of the event.
  2. Mardi Gras Murders - I love the idea of taking some of the Slaughter Sinema ideas and converting them into full-scale zones. Mardi Gras parade floats in the middle of the street, food vendors overridden, etc.
  3. Wicked Growth: Twisted Traditions - I think HHN needs at least one "traditional" spooky/Halloween zone each year... and part of me feels like Central Park should always have pumpkins. It's fantastic. This takes inspiration from Wicked Growth, with the Pumpkin Lord having a larger stage where Cat Lady house is.
  4. Vamp '95 - I was not a fan of HHN 33's aesthetic... but I do think it can fit inside a junkyard/gritty zone. I'd do a "Junkyard" rave-style zone where vampires have overtaken a party being hosted at a Junkyard.

ENTERTAINMENT
  1. Jack's Carnevil Carnage - taking over the Bourne stage, the show will mainly rely on a few rollable props and media screens. Essentially The Carnage Returns from HHN 25, but different tricks.
  2. Blumhouse Tonight - an "adult" version of Horror Makeup where artists from Blumhouse Productions showcase their latest tricks... only to then be taken over by M3GAN and/or Chucky.
  3. Marathon of Mayhem: The Director's Cut - I'd love to see them utilize pyro and drones for a HHN show. Storyline would be the Director showcasing his latest works, mixed in with IPs. (could also be The Usher)
  4. Halloween Nightmare Fuel: Ghoulish Tales - similar to previous iterations, has a more "classic" Halloween appeal with witches and warlocks.

STREET EXPERIENCES & OTHER THINGS
  • Mel's Drive In - I like this idea, should be a staple of the event.
  • Jack's Alley - I don't necessarily hate the idea of Club Horror... just not a fan of how it was executed. I'd like to see something like Jack's Alley from Horror Unleashed with actual theming and characters that can come and interact.
  • Death Eaters - return as is
  • Tribute Store - Mummy will still need its extended queue with the new coaster still under construction, so I'd like to see them create two separate stores instead of one. I don't think the arcade is a bad temporary choice... but it's just not the same. I'd rather they use underutilized areas like Hollywood and Villain-Con.
  • Lighting/Walkways - I'd like to see the return of gobo lighting throughout backstage areas instead of bright white/blue lights. For example, those walkways between the soundstages getting to Terrifier/Grave could use some nice lighting patterns to "tie it" to the event a bit.
