Traffic. You can expect an article on their website tomorrow that will give the ride a lot of free publicity. This site, as great as it might seem, just isn't as big as Micechat.

You guys, I know why they leaked it to MiceChat, I was just being sarcastic and it just pissed off lol. Adriana, let's get a drink together. ;)

Yeah I 10000% agree....it really sucks. This franchise deserved a major E-ticket.

Everyone is free to talk about MiceChat.

I have no animosity towards them. They do what they do well, and this just shows that we need to improve our own offerings so Universal will take notice.

Well, changing the subject, is there any information on the Miss Hattie's F&B? I'm pretty sure the facade is not accessible through the front door. Also, I wonder how the two ride rooms will be loaded. Will they split off from pre-show 1 or further down the experience?

There's a row of doors on the right side of Miss Hattie's, which will be the entrance.

From how the MiceChat tweets sound, it'll split off after the second pre-show but I'm not fully sure. Both rooms have the same number of rows as UOR, and one training room has the same number of rows... your guess is as good as mine.

We always suspected about the doubled capacity, but I could never get a firm answer on it so I wasn't jumping at the gun to fully confirm it. It's great that it's the case. Also a bit bummed about the first pre-show room, which is not nearly as towering as Orlando's http://netdna.orlandoinformer.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/despicable-me-minion-mayhem-universal-studios-final-249-oi.jpg

So the entrance will be facing SSFL where the supposed film's coffee shop facade is? And because there is not a double pre-show 1 as it was where the old Kimberly room was, the split must either happen right after pre-show 1 or right before the ride room like you said. The first pre-show looks so funny compared to the Orlando version but they at least added lights behind the windows to simulate outdoor light while Orlando's looks odd.

Yes.

My mind is still wrangling the info, but I'm willing to be more will be divulged upon in tomorrow's MC article.

And yes, to address the elephant in the room it sucks that MiceChat gets the coverage but from my experiences Universal Studios Hollywood knows that the theme park website with the highest traffic that even bothers to cover them is MC, so this is who they listen to and who they actively pursue. I was even assigned to help clean up a particular mess once because MiceChat pointed it out. Dead serious. Disney and even UOR are multi-faceted in their web approach, but the dunderheads at USH haven't really caught on yet.

Hopefully it'll change soon.  ;)

My personal opinion is that everything IU is doing is just as good, if not BETTER than what micechat offers in terms of offerings. They've just been a site much longer and have more writers and articles about apocalyptic rumors and it's primarily a Disney site, so obviously they have more traffic. But I remember when UOR sites barely had any traffic. Thanks to Potter, that has changed. And as HTF said, once our Potter opens, IU is gonna be packed with people and readers. So don't change anything Jon, IU is fantastic as-is. It's just gonna need more exposure, and we'll get it once Potter opens, maybe even sooner when Despicable Me and the new tram addition open up.

I'm quite familiar with Universal's approach. They usually almost always invite sites like MiceChat and Theme Park Insider along with other members of the media for specialized events. There's nothing wrong with that, but it can be frustrating from our perspective. We do get representation, but it's always on the first tier.

We'll be looking into some changes that will hopefully attract a larger audience in the future. I haven't exactly been big on promotion, so perhaps we'll pursue another route. One thing's for sure - this doesn't look good on our end, and hopefully that will change.

I sure hope something promotes or sparks some positive change so that Universal (and the public) starts noticing the site more, as it truly deserves the recognition. It'll be cool if you figure out a way to promote the site, but if not, I feel that all the new rides opening and developments will help drive interest naturally.

I personally loathe self promotion, but we'll see.

Oh, I totally agree. I know I've promoted some of the stuff I've done acting wise on the site, but in reality I'm reaaally shy of self promotion usually. But it DOES help. So it's sometimes better to put that loathe of self promotion aside for a bit and think of the positives that it could bring. That's what I did.

Promotion or not, I totally believe that traffic will raise through the roof naturally soon enough either way thanks to Potter :)

Back to Minion Mayhem.

Yeah, sucks that the first pre-show room isn't as towering or accurate as the one in Orlando but hopefully everything else will make up for it.

Also, in the pic with the simulator cars, they look flush against the floor. I take that they rise up, correct? Any idea how far or how much they rise up?

I am confused... 2 ride rooms?  Where is this confirmed?  Does this mean we offer double capacity over Orlando?  Because the main theater photo does look to be the same capacity as Orlando's version.  I don't see two photos of two ride rooms.

I see:

Preshow 1

Preshow 2

Ride Room.

We still have yet to see the Dance Party room.

I don't visit MiceChat, so any photos posted here would be great!

From MiceChats twitter:

“@MiceChat: 1 of the 2 training rooms.  Notice the base of the seats are flush with the floor @UniStudios [HASHTAG]#minionride[/HASHTAG] http://twitter.com/MiceChat/status/430512336982380544/photo/1”

Yup double capacity, it's preparing for the future for sure as in 2014 USH might not need those two ride rooms in the fall.

In 2015 they won't need those two ride rooms in the winter, or the fall.

But in 2016... in 2016 they are going to need them every. single. day.

Hopefully this doesn't turn into a repeat of the Country Bear Jamboree in Disneyland down the line.

Posted by USH's Facebook page. Either this was taken at a lower angle than we have previously seen, or USH Photoshopped out the show building a bit on the right ;)

Not sure if they're completely done yet, but what are those green things supposed to be on either side of Gru's house? Shouldn't they have white picket fences on either side? Also, the dead grass is a clear visual giveaway to guests that the ride takes place before the second movie :P

The ride has no timeline but the silver/gray piping resembles the color scheme of film 2. Green things are the neighbor's lawns. Dead grass suggest film 1 but Mike West has said that there is no set timeline for the ride. The facade looks excellent. Well done Creative!

2 ride rooms also allows for no down time during refurb months since they can refurb one room at a time similar to Simpsons.  Hope this is true.  Keep USH ride count up!!!

Probably helps tourists on the website realize that this is a significant addition as "ride" is a very far-reaching word. I did hear an advertisement on Pandora radio stating Minion Mayhem so I don't know what else to think of this. Commercials on TV will probably say "The Ride" but the map will most likely say Minion Mayhem along with billboards and other media. The website has also been updated with a really funny promo image so I'm assuming that softs are so painfully close due to a collection of uniformed employees, social media advertising and the aforementioned preliminary media hard-hat tours.

New Name: Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem the Ride - 180:4D - Battle for the Banana
