This is the first time hearing of what the steakhouse is, WDW hasn't announced it. The OBJ found out through one of Gibsons' websites.

Also, I think with the amount of conventioneers that go to WDW, this steakhouse will do great. If anything it will hurt places like Le Cellier and Shula's.

I don't think it would hurt the other ones, because reservations are sometimes very hard to get for Le Cellier. So there is a need for more steak places.

You're right. Le Cellier is more of a theme park guest steak house anyway.

Shula's and (I expect) Gibson's as well are much better aimed at the convention crowd. Shula's because it's in a convention hotel and Gibson's because you don't need to pay to get into DTD

Haven't seen anyone post this yet... the new steak house opening in Disney Springs is rumored to be a Gibson's and apparently it's opening in March according to this article: http://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/blog/2014/09/rumor-chicago-firm-to-debut-new-restaurant-in.html

For those that don't know, Gibson's is a high end and well regarded steakhouse in Chicago. Will be a very welcomed addition. Here's their website: http://www.gibsonssteakhouse.com/

For now. I'm sure we'll hear from many people who have never eaten there before about how overpriced and overrated it is.

A good steak house is never a bad idea.

If their menu aligns with their other 3 locations, i'm sure we'll hear about prices. And they'll blow WDW restaurant prices out of the water too. I think I saw a $99 steak on there.

As I said, this is going to be popular with the convention crowd, who are spending that corporate cash.

Prices looked very similar to Ruth Chris or Capital Grill. A place you easily drop $150 for two people. If you like a good steak place it is well worth it, otherwise people will skip it. But I do see a market for this in Disney and it may get more than the business crowd. I know people who will spend more money on vacation to "splurge". This won't be a typical Disney family place, but Disney needs more adult places and/or places for well behaved children.

Oh, I agree. I'm just saying, as you said, it could be easy to jump on it for prices without having actually gone and experienced the place for yourself. It looks like it's other 3 locations all have bars that operate until 2am, which will be a plus as well.

And the prices will be enough to drive away most of that family crowd. It's worth it for a good meal between a few people or a company meeting, but when you're paying for 4-5 people in an average family, most will skip.

Morimoto, The Boathouse restaurants announced to open at Walt Disney World in 2015 for Disney Springs

The renderings look good! The boathouse, seems interesting.

Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, with Patina Restaurant Group, will open Morimoto Asia in summer 2015 at The Landing. It’s the chef’s first pan-Asian dining experience.

The restaurant will feature a 36-foot tall, two-story layout including a range of areas to explore with open terraces, grand hall, private rooms, long bar, cocktail lounge, waterside seating and more.

From Schussler Creative, known for Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex at Walt Disney World, The Boathouse will be another new restaurant in Disney Springs.

It will open in Spring 2015, also in The Landing, featuring an upscale, waterfront dining experience with floating artwork and boats from the 30’s, 40’s & 50’s. Its offerings will include The Captain’s Raw Bar, The Admiral’s Club Bar and The Dock Bar, built over the water. Other nautically-themed rooms include The Runabout, Twin Transoms, and The Lake House. There will also be two private dining rooms for special events, conventions and presentations: The Regatta and The Trophy Room.

Its gourmet menu will be served daily until 2 a.m. featuring steaks, chops, fresh seafood and a raw bar.

On the water, a 40-foot wooden Italian Water Taxi will feature champagne toasts and chocolate-covered strawberries. Guided Amphicar rides will launch from land, taking guests on a 20-minute tour of the landmarks of Disney Springs.

“Combining dining with interactive entertainment, The BOATHOUSE helps bring to life our vision of Disney Springs as a welcoming place for guests of all ages to enjoy with their friends and family amid the charm of a waterfront town center,” said George A. Kalogridis, president, Walt Disney World Resort.

The 20-minutes guided tours part seems very interesting and unique about the Boathouse, but it will probably be pretty expensive.

So, phase 1 of the parking garage opened today.

What is it with Disney and opening things in phases? Can't they get stuff done quicker and open it all at one time?

It opened in phases because they need the capacity for the holidays. It will close again after the holidays to finish the job completely. If you look at one of my posts earlier in the thread, they are actually building this exactly in line with the timeline of garages built in this style are normally built in (12-18 months). The Uni TM Garage was pre-fabbed concrete, which is why it was built so quickly and in line with how fast a pre-fabbed garage is normally built (6-8 months).

Disney took a different approach and did poured in place concrete, which allows them to maximize the amount of parking spaces as the layout is unique. Poured in place concrete garages typically are built in a 12-18 month time span as I said above. So as much as people want to complain how slow this is being built, it really isn't.

In other news... New concept art on the walls. Here's what the former Adventurer's Club building will look like:

A poster over on WDWMagic has posted a list of tenants and it seems fairly legit. He has also posted location in another thread, but i'll leave that out for now unless anyone is super interested. The most interesting thing to me is that The Edison isn't mentioned (although he does mention no word on AC yet).

I have posted what I know. Right now we should see vendors pulling permits for the Landing. No word on Adventurers Club!! WDW is pulling permits to build thing then the vendor file financial statements and pull permits to commence work. Until Marketplace and Town Center are ready for occupancy there won't be many names of vendors being revealed unless the business wants a certain location or to lock in on something else.

I went the day after christmas. I expected a croud so I planned 1,5 hours to see the 4pm movie. I took the exit closest to where I needed to be. Having a handicap card I wanted to keep walking to a minimum.
A castmember directed me to a full parking are. One row furthur was empty but another cm redirected me and I did the same loop. After that I was directed from the parking are, When I asked what area to again another cm hè Saïd hè didn't care.
I was on the line to the parking garage but that One ended and it took forever to get on the other lane. The car in front of me probably thought FU Disney and went into the garage anyway and I followed him.
On the first Floor there was a lot of free parking places. It resulted in the end for quite a hike I'm still recovering from and I missen the first 10 minutes.
Leasing the garage again cm where unhelpfull and conflicting getting me out of the structure. The whole experiance was awefull and the cm did a terible job and where at moments rude. Sure I never expected a quick or easy commute but the enormous amount of incompetance and planning skills from Disney's Side was shocking.

I had a lot of trouble understanding your post but.. what you're saying is parking at Downtown Disney still sucks with the parking garage or doesn't because there were a lot of "free parking places"?

Not trying no be a smartass, but if you listened to the CMs and kept on going past the garage since it's still technically unfinished and parked likely back by cirque, there would've been plenty of parking and less of a hike.

I went New Years Day. It was the worst nightmare experience I've had at a theme area. It was so backed up. It took over a hour just to arrive at DD and park. We were parked in front of the Walt Disney sign. So long I took multiple photos. We ate at earls and left quickly. It's beyond me the job their doing on construction. It's like they didn't think it through first. Any way DDS is shaping up nicely. The restrooms are open (if anybody cares) More shops and places to eat are always a welcome.

Planet Hollywood has announced their Observatory renovation. It's pretty much what's been rumored, but they're also working on a new menu.
