And for me, I like them. It creates a create opportunity to hit other parts of the park and return to a popular attraction with a greatly reduced wait.

It’s oddly the same reason I liked having to book lunch/dinner reservations weeks in advance or plan my mobile orders for the day before entering the park. All that planning is taken care of and frees up my time while I’m in the park.

I didn't mind a lot of the other stuff about MyMagic+. I know many hated it, but I actually liked it. But once you bring it to the level they've brought it to now, I do mind. In WDW, as a local for example, if I had a pass and wanted to go to a park, I have to book MONTHS in advance now just to go on what would've been a spur of the moment trip before. On top of that, if I want to get on RotR, I have to be on it either first thing in the morning or midday. Sure, it's only one ride, which I can do without at WDW. But at DL, i'd have a bit less patience if I wasn't able to go on the two newest rides at DLR (and i'm assuming pretty much every ride that opens from now on will get BP).

I can see how that’s frustrating and most likely by design to minimize APs at WDW since they spend the least money while in the parks. Same for DL’s AP program being 86’ed. Although, there are rumors they might return soon.

That is an interesting video and review of (what seems like) a casual guest experience. I do agree that right now with Disneyland there is a new level of planning that needs to happen prior to your trip, but having done it first hand just a few weeks ago it felt tedious and ultimately unnecessary. It's not something I'd want to do again any time soon. I am very curious about the new Annual Pass system and what they are going to do there.

I am interested in seeing how all of the planning actually effects attendance, if at all. I seem to be in the minority that doesn’t mind it.

I think this year they can pretty much get away with murder. Everyone wants to travel again after a year stuck inside. It’ll be the bad taste left in guests mouths that will be interesting to see how it effects future summer booking seasons.

True, especially with the mobile food orders. You don’t mess with people and their food! People remember that and will tell others not to go because you can’t even get a bite to eat.

This is my thinking too. As of right now, the repeat value for me is pretty low.

Summer of 2019 was blissfully. The big crowds never showed up for Galaxy’s Edge and it was nice to come to the park. I don’t think we will ever see it like that again.

Maybe

But we didn't think we'd get them then either...sooo who knows? I think this September is going to be the sweet spot...things are open and ready so no masks...but school has started and think most parents will not want to take kids out after a year and half of weird schooling, I think travel will still be restricted, and no Aps...so I think a weekday this September should be a golden time to go

Question: If you get a park hopper ticket, can you try for Rise of the Resistance both times?

if your starting park is DL then you can try at 7:00 am. I don’t think you can get another Rise boarding pass even if you got an early slot and used it before 12:00. In that scenario you can tru to get a web slingers at 12:00.

if you miss the 7:00 am you can still try again at 12:00 for rise.

Eh.....I kinda agree, but I think it's possible it may happen once they open the Avengers ride. They have have the same mentality of "Oooohh boy the whole world will want to see this! Let's double the prices and make it crazy hard to get on the ride!" and push everyone away. I think Disney's arrogance may very well kick them in the pants again.

But I agree that this virtual queue nonsense is getting to be a huge frustration. What's even the point of VQ for WEB now that Covid restrictions are virtually gone? The only justification I could see is the ride breaking down a lot from being completely new, but I don't think that's the case? Why are we doing this? They better not pull this VQ nonsense on Runaway Railway when it opens.

I dont know

At least for now the MCU can do no wrong and the Disney shows have been killing it..so doubt even if the E ticket doesn't open for 6 more years the MCU will be maybe even bigger by then.
But I think depending on the Ap's we could see some lower days again

I think Disney really should push the ticket prices...see how far people are willing to go. If people will go for 150 when the lines sucks and no entertainment..how much will they pay for shows again?

So has anyone had any luck securing dining reservations? I'm probably going in <60 days (late August) but am struggling to find anything. Most restaurants have a bizarre "No schedules are available for the date you selected" and won't even let me search. Oga's Cantina is, predictably, booked solid, apparently.

Would love to at least land Carthay's Al Fresco terrace or a Downtown Disney spot, but it's not even letting me search any of these locations. Any thoughts/tips?

Keep checking. I grabbed a Lamplight Lounge reservation less than a week before my trip. It is pretty frustrating just planning a trip to Disneyland these days.

So Freshbaked put out a video on wait times

Now things will change in July...but wow its amazing how many people seem to be leaving early without nighttime shows

But most rides on average by mid day are down 20ish mins from normal ride times. So this summer might not be the worst time to go...for rides.

So where is the place to enter the resort in the morning these days? Is Harbor Boulevard the worst chokepoint, or is parking/walking from the garages just as bad? Can you still just loop through the Downtown Disney parking lot and hit the separate security checkpoint that way?

I haven't been back since it reopened, but in the past, I preferred Toy Story Parking Lot. The lines for getting on a bus is much shorter than the lines for security and lines for getting on a tram (have they returned yet?) for Mickey and Friends and Pixar Pals. Lines for security is usually shorter on the east entrance. If you have kids and are lugging around strollers and such, you have way more room on the bus. It's a struggle to fit all that stuff on the tram.

Toy story seems to be popular since it opened back up. Saw the line for the bus at close was pretty crazy. I think people are still doind Harbor if you want to go to DCA first and check out adventure campus. I know this can change but Mickey and Friends might be the best option right now.

As far as I know,
Avengers Campus no longer has a standby line so there's no reason to get there early anymore and people have realized that. Harbor is a bit more crowded still, regardless, and I'm not sure why that is in pandemic times when it used to be fine prior. Meanwhile, when I did Mickey and Friends about 3 weeks ago, it was the fastest and easiest security check. Absolutely no wait. If your feet can bear that walk is a whole other thing entirely -- the trams are still not operating and there isn't a timeline yet when they'll return. It was absolutely brutal for me in the morning and it took me an hour or so in the Radiator Springs line to feel normal again. The walk back was oddly a piece of cake for me. My feet were destroyed for the next day though, could barely move, but I rested pretty hard because I was worried I wouldn't be able to pull through at Knotts the next day. With that said, I would prefer to take the Toy Story bus even if it meant a 20ish minute wait to get in and 20 to go home. I'm already walking all day, no need for more.
