There are still a lot of details still up in the air. We know Star Wars is coming but what's inside it?

It's also years away. I can't really care about something that's still at least 3-4 years away from the first section opening.

I'm actually somewhat surprised by the seeming lack of discussion about this project(s), even if this forum is primarily devoted to talking about UOR. The idea of a thorough makeover of this park, while it could be bad for Universal, is still one of the most exciting things to happen at Disney World in a LONG time.

this will actually be the greatest thing to happen to universal.. competition is great and finally an answer from disney to all of comcasts moves since purchase (i dont really consider the fantasy land make over a true game changer)

this will only spark further construction and i cant wait to see what the future holds for both HS and UOR

The rumors aren't that exciting, and I hardly expect a thorough makeover. It is really hard to care or discuss about. They move at a snails pace.

you don't think that if Disney spends a billion plus DCA type makeover with a blown out stars wars and Pixar that it wouldn't be wildly successful? and to be honest I don't think they care what people think their pace is (me personally I think they take too long ie NFL and the DAK expansion) they re still killing it money wise and popularity wise

DCA had more to work with. A billion is a drop in the bucket at DHS, a start, yes, but still a drop in the bucket. I'm sure whatever they do will be a "success." That being said, there is nothing tied to this project that excites me (yet.)

And WDW may not care, and that's why they lost me. There's more to business than making money (or at least there used to or should be.)

agree....and im not exactly PUMPED for this project mainly because we really don't have a clue what to expect...but they re closing stuff for a reason and its not just cost, something big is coming...but like others have said its hard to get excited for something coming in 2019 or whatever, especially with the neighbors down the street building something annually

well 2019 is just so far away, I'll be out of college and probably starting an actual career by then. Thats like being told the best movie ever made will come out in 2026, I mean like thats cool and all but with a wait like that you shouldn't be excited now

This right here is why I have a hard time getting excited for this project. I mean, DCA had so many varied Lands to work with off of their concept, had more rides to work with, and was aggressively building as soon as they started closing things down. So far, DHS has closed things down and done nothing. Right now, this feels more like a rebrand than a remodel and, until we have some solid idea of what they are doing, it will continue to remain that in my mind.

Edit: At this point it is easier for me to get excited about Disneyland's 60th anniversary and they are not even adding a single new ride, just plussing old ones and adding shows.

It's really hard to get excited about any of the Disney project until they actually happen. Too much time lapses between the announcement and when it opens and in that time budgets get cut, plans change and some things turn out to be better than expected and some things worse. I think Universal has the right idea of starting a project and getting it well underway before announcing it and waiting until closer to the actual opening to give more details. Yes, it can be frustrating for the "fans" watching the construction progress, but overall it eliminates a great deal of the disappointment with things that don't pan out which were promised in the original reveal.

Disney has a LONG history of announcing things that never come to pass or change in mid stream. Look at New Fantasyland. They showed a rendering, gave some details then made major changes. Some of those changes were for the better, but some set people's expectations too high and only led to disappointment and complaints. Look at the way they've built up expectations for Avatar...

If they're smart they will start building and only once it is WELL underway they should announce/confirm what they are building and only 6-12 months out give any details. Not talking about it can be better publicity than talking about it.

You're probably right. So often Disney gives you Great Expectations, then they drop those expectations off a cliff. That makes it hard to get really excited...That said, I'm one of the few that actually enjoys DHS and I hope they come up with some expansions that aren't too little kid centric. I'd love to see a Star Wars land that's in the league with Diagon Alley, but I just don't know if Disney is up to pulling it off. With Imagineering's inflated costs they probably need to spend a lot more than they did at California to do it right. Are they willing to do that? That's the big question. Time will be the judge.

I'm expecting a pretty detailed Mos Eisley Spaceport. A Radiator Springs E Ticket (utilizing the Rat ride system). And Toy Story Midway (my hope for DHS' TSPL). Throw in some other placemeking around the park and they're done.

Iger confirmed today at the Shareholders Meeting (probably "unintentionally" intentional) that an overhaul is in the works, along with the name change once the overhaul is complete.

If they're taking names, I propose: Disney's Aquisition Studios
