I've already changed my pre planned schedule for the October WDW 2 week vacation to reflect how bad DHS is becoming. I used to really like the park, contrary to the popular opinion, and we always spent two or three days there.. But there's not really much left now. This is my first WDW vacation in three years, and it was originally intended to be all WDW days since I'm going back to the four weeks (two vacations) all Universal vacation when Kong opens next year. But now, I've decided to get my AP's and sneak in two Universal days for this trip. Primarily due to the deconstruction of DHS.

Best line I've heard so far on the DHS deconstruction. Robert Niles, TPI, just penned a story on DHS. The title...drumroll..."Honey, I Shrunk the Theme Park".....:D

It is perfectly acceptable for you to post a link to such an article MD. The taboo occurs when the owner or employee of another website becomes a member and posts a link to their own content. So feel free to put up a link next time, as long as it isn't a link to another forum!

Horrors if they close all of that down before building anything. I hope the popular Disney websites tell everyone looking for travel info that DHS should be avoided in coming trips for the next few years... or decades. :look:

I hear Muppets is staying. And the Disney Jr building.

They won't close it all at once. Everything on the TSMM side, all the way through LMA should be closed by mid Sept. Streets of America will close after Christmas. The Star Wars side of the park will remain mostly untouched for 2.5 years. All will be wrapping up by late 2021.

What will finish first, DHS rebuild or I-4 Ultimate project? That long gives them plenty of time to cut stuff.

My daughter was born 2 months after Transformers opened at Universal Orlando. She will be 9 by the time Star Wars hits DHS.

I mean honestly, with all this talk I feel like they are better to cut the losses, shut down the park and renovate it. It seems that this entire park is being gutted...how can you expect someone to pay for a park that practically has no attraction.

Cuz it still has gems like ToT. That would piss off a lot of people who only go once in a while.

And then there's Frozen. Just flood the parks with more Frozen cardboard figures & other such stuff. And put the cheap Toy Story carnival flat rides in, with signs all over the park saying, "Experience the Magic of Disney" And the strollers will follow & the crowds will come. As the old saying goes, "there's a sucker born every minute".

They should close the park for a year and have 24/7 construction going, it's really that bad.

It's smart to close everything right away, that way when people come they will want to rush to the other parks. "I'm so glad we got Park Hopper, Honey." Toy Story Playland is pretty awful by the way and extremely small. Its pretty much a waste of land, but I guess HS is already so good at that. Its so sad because ToT is one of their best rides.

I agree that they should just close this whole park for a year or so. When I was there in May the crowds were simply awful (part of it was due to Star Wars Weekends, but they have events going on practically all the time now to get people to come to that park). There are only a handful of attractions left, and we could only get on half of them in one day because the lines were so long. By the time we made our FP+ reservations, a week ahead, there were only two attractions left to choose from. There is not one single place in the entire park where you can eat inside without making a reservation FAR in advance, unless you want to eat pizza and sit on the floor because there aren't enough seats. We ended up having to go through One Man's Dream twice, because there was nothing else to do with a line under two hours. And everywhere we went the pathways were congested to the extent that you could not go more than five seconds without bumping into someone. That place needs to be shut down until it is actually worth the amount of money people are paying to visit it.

So I guess there's announcements coming next month via D23? As for Toy Story Playland, I just got to experience it in Walt Disney Studios Paris. It's nicer to look at more than anything, but these are very low capacity rides. This will not be much of a help here.

just want to say, I really liked the idea of turning RNRC into a GoTG ride with the Mix tape Vol. 1 as the soundtrack. Pretty cool idea actually.
